When planning a stay in Mjöbäck, three different interests can serve as points of reference: the history of Mjöbäcks kyrka, Korrasjöns badplats, and the walking and cycling route to Överlida. The church represents architectural and craftsmanship history; Korrasjöns badplats is about specific features and activities by the water. The route to Överlida is a separate option for travelling on foot or by bike.

Church and Local Cultural History

Mjöbäcks kyrka was built in 1851, after the former church in the old cemetery across the road was declared dilapidated. The bells point to earlier dates: the smaller one dates from the time of Gustav III and was cast in 1773. The larger one weighs 450 kilograms; after it cracked while ringing in 1831, it was recast in Jönköping. The dates can be read as a sequence: first the smaller bell was cast in 1773, then the larger one was recast in 1831, and finally the church was built in 1851. The history of the bells and the building each retain their own distinct role.

The church’s furnishings can also be linked to people and places: the baptismal font was made by Carl Johan Johansson of Tokabo. In the early 20th century, Johannes Bengtsson and his wife Lina of Klackhult donated it to the church. The pulpit, altarpiece, and number boards were made by Johannes Johansson in Tokabo; his elderly father, Johannes Andersson of Ölsbo, very probably helped him.

The church acquired its present appearance through a major renovation in 1991–1992. It was carried out by church painter Rose Bergström of Lidhult, who was also responsible for the colour scheme, based on old models. A textile detail is the runner: it was woven by Kasthalls in Kinna and designed by textile artist Elisabet Brenner of Holsljunga. Another local cultural attraction is Tokabo Hembygdsgård, run by the Mjöbäck local heritage association.

Korrasjön Swimming Area

Korrasjöns badplats is a short distance outside Mjöbäck. From Mjöbäck, drive towards Öxabäck, turn left, and follow the signs to the swimming area. There is a small sandy beach, a grassy area, and a barbecue area. At the swimming area, you can barbecue and jump into the water from the bathing jetty. The focus here is on spending time by the water and enjoying specific activities.

Walking and Cycling Route and Nature

The walking and cycling route between Överlida and Mjöbäck was inaugurated on 9 August 2025. It provides a separate point of reference for travellers on foot or by bicycle; Korrasjön, by contrast, is a specific destination for swimming by the water. Another nature-related topic is the freshwater pearl mussel population near Mjöbäck. It is isolated from the population within the Högvadsån Natura 2000 site. For nature enthusiasts, this distinction adds an ecological aspect to the specific destinations.
