A stay in Holsljunga can be planned around different interests: time by the water, a cycling or hiking trip, and cultural and historical attractions each offer a distinct focus. If you’re looking for a hotel in Holsljunga, first consider which of these activities you want to shape your stay.

The lake and finding your way around Holsjön

The swimming lake near Holsljunga has a long sandy beach and shallow water. At Holsjön in Holsljunga, there are large grassy areas, shade trees and barbecue spots. A paved path leads from the car park to the jetty and is suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. This makes it possible to plan your access to the jetty; the accessibility information applies to this path.

Holsljunga Camping is right by Lake Holsjön. Boats can be rented there in summer; it’s best to check seasonal availability before your trip. Holsljunga Camping & Café is also a certified InfoPoint. Knowledgeable staff can answer basic questions about nearby places to visit and provide brochures and maps.

Cycling and hiking trails

The Pyttebaneleden uses the former railway embankment between Holsljunga and Överlida as a cycle path. The eight-kilometre section from Holsljunga to Överlida runs from Gamla Järnvägen in Holsljunga to the Överlida campsite; the route also passes Gräne Gruva. The Holsljungaturen reaches Holsljunga, where the terrain becomes hillier. The eight-kilometre distance gives you a clearly defined section to help plan your route; the hillier terrain at Holsljunga is a separate planning consideration for the Holsljungaturen.

The Toppleden trail at Gräne Gruva is 1.8 kilometres long and offers views of Lake Lilla Hallången. Check the trail details locally before setting out. The circular walking trails at Bredgårds Näset have barbecue spots and a barbecue hut. The trails therefore have different features to consider when planning a walk: the Toppleden is noted for its length and views, while the trails at Bredgårds Näset include barbecue facilities.

Mining and village history

Gräne Gruva is a feldspar mine dating from the 19th century. Mica and feldspar were mined there between 1899 and 1932 and exported mainly to Germany. This information places the mine’s history in context and identifies both the materials extracted and their main export market.

The church known as Holsljunga kyrka was built in 1834 and inaugurated in 1835. Its baptismal font dates from the 12th century, making it considerably older than the church building. The colour scheme from the most recent restoration, which took place in 1995, was created by Elisabet Brenner, a textile artist who lives in Holsljunga. The church’s construction, baptismal font and restoration provide different points of reference in its history.

Högelycke is now used as the village’s local heritage centre. The Högelycke hembygdsstuga is housed in a croft dating from the second half of the 18th century, originally part of the Fällhult farm. The preacher Jacob Otto Hoof can also be located on site: it is signposted, and there is a car park and a footpath. If you’re interested in village history, these places offer different points of connection—from a building’s historic use to finding your way to a signposted destination.
