Slutarp brings together historic points of interest and a variety of routes. These include the Slutarpsdösen, the Hallonflickan find site, the development of Kinnarp and Slutarp, and routes for walking and cycling. You can focus your trip planning on different themes: a Stone Age monument, 20th-century local history, and present-day uses of the routes. Depending on whether you are interested in early history, the development of the settlements, or outdoor activities, you can give these aspects different emphasis.

Stone Age traces

Slutarpsdösen is a Stone Age tomb dating to around 3200 BC. Do not climb onto the capstone, as the carvings are very delicate. The Hallonflickan find site is located by the old railway embankment between Falköping and Slutarp. These are distinct historical points of interest: a tomb with an approximate date, and a find site anchored to its location by the railway embankment. If you are particularly interested in prehistory, Slutarpsdösen offers a specific Stone Age monument; at Hallonflickan, the focus is on the find site and its location between the two places.

Settlement and railway history

In the 20th century, Kinnarp and Slutarp developed from the rural municipality of Kinneved into settlements. The railway line serving Kinnarp and Slutarp was built in 1906 and closed in 1985. Settlement development and the railway offer two perspectives on more recent history: one describes the transformation into settlements, while the other gives the construction and closure dates of a line that served both places. In historical terms, the Stone Age tomb clearly predates these 20th-century developments. This provides a historical perspective ranging from a prehistoric monument to changes in settlement and transport history.

Cycling on different routes

The disused railway embankment of the former line between Falköping and Ulricehamn runs through Slutarp and is now used as a cycle path. The Älmestadsturen includes Slutarp. Kulturturen Åsle is a 47-kilometre road cycling route. These cycling options differ in the features that matter for planning: the railway embankment is defined by its route through Slutarp and its current use as a cycle path; the Älmestadsturen includes Slutarp; and Kulturturen Åsle is specified by its length and road cycling classification. The 47 kilometres refers to this road cycling route, not to the railway embankment or the Älmestadsturen. Check the route conditions in advance if you plan to ride Kulturturen Åsle.

Running and walking

The illuminated running track in Slutarp is 2.2 kilometres long and connects to the footpath to Frökindsgården in Kinnarp. Alongside the cycling options, this provides a separate reference point for running or walking: a measured running track connected to a footpath in the direction of Kinnarp. The 2.2 kilometres of the running track and the 47 kilometres of Kulturturen Åsle are not comparable route measurements. One length refers to an illuminated running track, the other to a road cycling route. If you plan to include physical activity in your stay, you can therefore consider not just the distance but also the activity and route type.
