Knislinge: Culture, Cycling and Golf
Accommodation in Knislinge
A trip to Knislinge can be planned around different interests: the church has set opening hours, the cycling route has a 5 km section, and the golf course offers four possible hole counts. Culture ranges from the church, built in the early 13th century, to contemporary dance and performance at the Milvus Artistic Research Center. The topics also differ in the specific details relevant to your plans: opening hours, route section or number of holes.
Church and local heritage
Knislinge Church was built in the early 13th century. It is open on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:00 and during services. If you plan to visit the church, schedule your visit around these times. Its baptismal font is considered one of the most important works by the so-called Knislinge Master.
The Knislinge Local Heritage Association holds its collections and meetings at Klockaregården, a four-sided farmstead opposite the church. Klockarebostället has existed since at least the 17th century. The Brygghuset houses a school museum on the ground floor and an equipment museum on the upper floor. Together, these places showcase different aspects of local heritage, from the church and association activities to school and equipment museums.
Art and performance
Since 2025, the Milvus Artistic Research Center has been based at Knislinge Folkets Park. The center presents contemporary dance and performance and provides a setting for artistic research outside a major city. The two-year “With Care” residency program (2025–2027) is intended for Ukrainian artists and focuses on performance.
Contemporary artistic work sits alongside the historical themes of the church and museums. This offers a different cultural perspective from local heritage: the focus is on dance, performance and artistic research. If you want to shape your stay around culture, you can distinguish these themes from the historical sites when planning your trip.
Cycling and exercise
The Cykla i Snapphanespår cycling route includes a 5 km section from Knislinge to Emmislöv. Knislinge also has a floodlit exercise trail at Åke backe, by the water tower on Göingevägen. The outdoor gym is in scenic Åke backe, between the floodlit exercise trail and the golf course. This gives you both a specifically named cycling route and exercise facilities at a particular location to consider when planning.
The kickbike track in Knislinge is next to the bus station and a playground. It is also suitable for younger and inexperienced riders. There is a barbecue area and several places to sit at the same location, some of them covered. These details give you a clear idea of the surroundings and are especially useful if you are planning a visit with younger or less experienced riders.
Golf with different options for the number of holes
Östra Göinge Golf Club is just outside Knislinge, beside the winding Helge å river. The course is a partly hilly parkland and woodland course with a varied character. You can play 5, 9, 13 or 18 holes. This makes choosing golf different from choosing the cycling route: the route has a named section that is 5 km long, while golf offers four hole counts to choose from. The descriptions can help you decide whether you would rather plan a route with a specific distance in kilometres or a round with a chosen number of holes.
Another activity
Bowling is another option in Knislinge: you can book lanes at the bowling alley. This adds an indoor activity to the choice of cycling and golf.
