Immeln’s main points of interest include the lake, the settlement at its southern end, and several trails. To decide whether the area fits your travel plans, you can weigh nature, hiking routes and cultural attractions against one another. Accommodation options by the lake are also available.

Lake, Islands and Nature

Lake Immeln has clear water and rocky shores. The settlement of Immeln, by the railway station, lies at the southern tip of the lake. In the Immeln wildlife sanctuary, the many islands are important for the area’s rich birdlife. Immeln therefore brings together the lake shore, an island landscape and birdlife as specific nature-related attractions. If you are particularly interested in landscapes and wildlife when choosing a destination, this is an obvious focus.

There are five designated rest areas by Lake Immeln, with fire pits, wind shelters and toilets. They are located outside the wildlife sanctuary. This clearly distinguishes the rest areas from the protected area and adds practical facilities for a break by the lake to the nature-related attractions.

You can also spin-fish for pike and perch on the lake. This is a specific activity on the water in addition to birdwatching. When choosing activities to suit your interests, you can distinguish between these: the islands are important for the area’s birdlife, while spin-fishing targets the named fish species.

Hiking Trails and Choosing a Route

Stenrundan is a 5.2 km hiking trail in Immeln. It runs from the centre of Immeln, past the Stenmuséet, to the old quarry at Gedenryd. Stage 8 of the Skåneleden SL6 runs from Arkelstorp to Immeln and is 10 km long. The two routes therefore differ both in length and in their named waypoints. If you compare them by distance, Stenrundan is shorter than the 10 km stage; the place names also help you identify each route.

The Rundleden between Immeln and Breanäs offers a different combination of activities. It was developed as a combined hiking and canoeing trail as part of the project. When choosing between the routes mentioned, you can therefore consider different aspects: the distance and waypoints of Stenrundan and the Skåneleden stage, or the combination of hiking and canoeing on the Rundleden. This means you can explore Immeln not only through individual routes, but also through different ways of using the trails.

Culture in the Town Centre

The “Svart Granit” exhibition is located in the old railway water tower in the centre of Immeln. It adds a cultural attraction in town to the themes of the lake and hiking trails. If you would like to visit the exhibition, check in advance whether it is currently open to visitors.

Accommodation by the Lake

There are campsites where you can stay on several islands in Lake Immeln and on the mainland. This also gives you a choice of setting for your stay: campsites are located both on islands and on the mainland. You can take this distinction into account when considering Immeln as a destination for its landscapes, trails and lakeside stays.
