If you would like to combine swimming in the sea with paths through dunes and forest, Skummeslövsstrand offers several distinct highlights. Alongside shallow saltwater swimming in the sea, there is a traditional outdoor swimming pool, walking paths in nature reserves, and a route that runs through the forest and along the sea. When looking for a hotel, it can help to first consider which of these aspects you want to shape your stay: time by the water, nature trails, or a tour through different landscapes.

Swimming in the sea and at the outdoor pool

Skummeslövsstrand has shallow saltwater swimming in the sea. Skummeslövsbryggan has an accessible ramp and a bathing platform. Below Stora Strandvägen, there is a 120-metre-long bathing jetty.

The traditional outdoor pool Skummeslövsbadet is 50 metres from the sea and opened in 1961. Its location and history give a visit to the pool a distinctive connection to the area. If you plan to visit the pool specifically, check its current opening status in advance.

Dunes, forest and walking paths

The Svarvareskogen Nature Reserve is in the southern part of Skummeslövsstrand. Several marked walking paths lead through the dune landscape; parking is available at the tennis courts. The area is a reminder of the struggle against the sand. These paths offer a different focus from swimming in the sea: here, the emphasis is on a walk through a protected dune landscape.

The Norra Skummeslöv Nature Reserve is also near Skummeslövsstrand, on the coastal road between Mellbystrand and Skummeslövsstrand. Planted pine forest defines the landscape on a former area of drifting sand, and well-worn paths run through it. The scenery differs between the two nature walks: Svarvareskogen features paths through dunes, while Norra Skummeslöv offers pine forest and paths across a former area of drifting sand.

Routes and getting your bearings

The Kattegattleden passes by the Södra Skummeslöv Nature Reserve. The reserve’s car park is 500 metres from the crossing at Allarpsvägen; the “Skummeslövsstrand” stop is one kilometre from the nature reserve. These distances refer to different points: 500 metres between the car park and the crossing, and one kilometre between the stop and the reserve. This can help you get your bearings.

The Kustslingan Skummeslövsstrand–Båstad runs through the forest and along the sea and is suitable for trail running. It is a named route option if you would like to plan a run rather than a walk.

Fruit and picking

In 2022, the municipality established an orchard around a pond on Västkustvägen in Skummeslövsstrand, with fruit trees, berry bushes, strawberries and hazelnuts. Visitors are allowed to pick fruit, berries, strawberries and hazelnuts in Skummeslövs fruktlund. Picking is therefore a specific activity, distinct from taking a swimming break or going for a walk.
