Accommodation in Knäred
Knäred offers travelers a range of things to focus on: the river landscape along the Krokån, marked hiking trails, and cultural and industrial history. These themes may carry different weight when choosing a place to stay. If you are looking for hotels in Knäred, you can first decide whether nature, trails or the history of individual places should shape your stay.
Nature and Water by the Krokån
Just north of Knäred, the Prästaskogen Nature Reserve lies along the Krokån. Within the reserve, the river forms a series of rapids and waterfalls, including Kvarnfallen. There are also places to swim in the rapids. Take local conditions into account when swimming. Kvarnfallet in Knäred is a scenic spot on the Krokån.
Hiking Trails Around Knäred
Six marked hiking trails start at Knäreds Fritidscenter in Knäred; they are maintained by Knäreds IK. There is also a 1.5-kilometre hiking loop by the Krokån, which is partly adapted for accessibility. Two figures for the Hallandsleden are relevant, each with a different geographic scope: just over 30 kilometres of the trail pass through the area of the historic Knäred parish. A section of about 33 kilometres runs through the area around Knäred, from Mästocka in the north to Eketsbygget in the south. The two distance figures describe the Hallandsleden in different ways: one refers to the area of the historic parish, while the other refers to a section with the stated endpoints.
Cultural Landscape and Industrial History
Bollaltebygget in Knäred is a cultural reserve that preserves a unique rural farmstead setting, with buildings and a cultural landscape dating from the 19th century. Bollaltebyggetsgården was listed as a historic building in 1980 and designated Halland’s third cultural reserve in 2009. The reserve includes the buildings, the surrounding woodland and the adjacent heath.
The more than 400-year-old parish farm mill is located at Kvarnfallet near Knäred. It is clearly different in age from Bollaltebygget’s preserved 19th-century farmstead setting.
The upper Knäred power station was commissioned in 1910 and inaugurated by King Gustav V in front of more than 400 invited guests. Built in the castle style, the industrial building retains an exterior that is largely unchanged and generates around 35 GWh per year. Its history, architecture and annual output offer different perspectives on the same structure: the inauguration points to its origins, the exterior to its design, and the annual output to its function.
Swimming and Accommodation
Flammabadet in Knäred has three heated pools: a 25-metre pool with six lanes, a teaching pool and a paddling pool for the youngest children. Together with the swimming spots in the rapids, these represent two different swimming environments: a facility with several types of pool and river water in the Prästaskogen area. The pool configuration may change; check the latest information if swimming there is an essential part of your plans.
Flammabadets Camping is located in Knäred and offers accommodation. Check availability and operating details separately before your trip.
