If you’re looking for hotels in Valle, you can plan your trip around its named trails, chapels, caves and traces of history. The specific route details, places and building histories offer different starting points: you can weigh whether a circular route, a picnic spot, distinctive rock formations or local history should shape your travel plans.

Circular Routes and Distances

The Giro di Valdilonte is a circular route through the upper valley. After reaching the Chiesetta di Regina Pacis, it follows hillside paths along the Contrade Povoli, Sottoriva and Motto. The route is 9.3 kilometres long, includes 150 metres of elevation gain and takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes; it is also suitable for mountain bikers. For planning, both the elevation gain and approximate duration matter, as well as the distance.

In 2024, the 14th Camminata di Primavera was a non-competitive walking event with routes of about 7 and 12.5 kilometres. In terms of distance, the 9.3-kilometre Giro falls between the two routes offered at that event.

Trails and Notable Places

A woodland path leads from Valdicase to the concrete Croxe del Galo. It can also be seen from the meadows of Valdilonte and from some clearings on Monte Mori. Another woodland path follows the mountainside from a rustico in Valdibarco to Valdilonte. The routes thus have different focal points: one leads to the Croxe del Galo, while the other leads to Valdilonte.

Chapels and Landforms

The Chiesetta di Regina Pacis is located where Valdilonte and Valdibarco meet. At the Chiesetta di San Valentino, there are wooden tables and a tree-surrounded meadow that is suitable for resting or having a picnic. If a place to stop and rest is important to you, San Valentino offers specific options; at Regina Pacis, the confluence is the defining feature of the location.

Near Passo Bocca lies the Buso del Ponte, also known as Covolo delle Anguane. This small cave has a large circular opening near its entrance. Along the Strada vecia de Vale, below Colle di San Valentino, are old white-stone quarries, considered to be extensive, bright caves. The named features therefore differ: a small cave with a distinctive opening and quarries with a spacious, bright character.

History of Santa Cecilia

The Monumento ai Caduti near the parish church of Santa Cecilia was inaugurated on 24 April 1977. The church of Santa Cecilia in Castelgomberto dates back to the 18th century. After the new church of San Pietro e Paolo was built at the beginning of the 20th century, Santa Cecilia was abandoned; it was subsequently decided to dismantle it and rebuild it in the hamlet of Valle.

Directions to Agriturismo Valdibarco

From the square in Valle di Castelgomberto, follow the road towards Torreselle for about one kilometre. At the Chiesetta di Regina Pacis, turn left and follow the road to Agriturismo Valdibarco. Road conditions can change, so check them before setting out.
