When deciding whether to travel to Dro, different interests may tip the balance: nature at Lago Bagattoli and in the Marocche, trails above the village, frescoes and regional produce. The lake and green space, protected landscape, art and local products offer different points of interest.

Nature at Lago Bagattoli and in the Marocche

Oasi Lago Bagattoli is located a few metres from the built-up area of Dro and offers the characteristic natural environment of Garda Trentino. Lago Bagattoli is used for sport fishing; the green area around the lake is suitable for outdoor picnics. The two activities are clearly distinguished by location: sport fishing takes place on the lake, while picnicking is enjoyed in the surrounding green space. When planning your day, you can therefore decide whether to focus more on the water or on spending time in the green area.

The Marocche di Dro is a Site of Community Importance (SCI) in the Natura 2000 network. The nature reserve has a visitor trail with rest points where geomorphological and natural features can be observed. Geomorphology describes the forms and structures of the landscape; the rest points offer an opportunity to notice these features alongside the natural characteristics. Protected-area status and the visitor trail answer different questions: the SCI designation identifies the area's status, while the trail draws attention to specific landscape features.

Trails and orientation

For a different trail experience, there is the Sentiero attrezzato degli Scaloni - delle Cavre - dell'Anglone, described as an easy route above Dro. The key difference from the visitor trail in the Marocche is that this is a route above the village; in the Marocche, the focus is on rest points and observations within the nature reserve. Check trail conditions before setting out if you plan to take this route.

Porta Parco Dro adds another point of orientation in the Dro area. It is near the Centro Culturale di Dro, overlooks the Le Gere nature reserve and is located in the municipality of Dro.

Culture and regional produce

The Chiesa dell’Immacolata preserves frescoes by the Roman painter Francesco Giustiniani dating from 1910. Those interested in sacred art will find a distinct point of interest here, alongside the nature and trail themes.

Local produce also offers different points of interest: the vineyards around Dro are used to produce Vino Santo, while the Susina di Dro plum is grown in the area around Dro. One connection is to winegrowing, the other to a named plum variety. If you would also like to learn about regional products during your trip, these are two specific aspects of the area around Dro.

Getting there by bus

For bus travel, the extra-urban routes 205 and 204 are relevant: they connect Dro and Ceniga with other places in Garda Trentino. Check route numbers and timetables before travelling if you plan to use these connections.
