Malosco brings together specific points of interest for culture and trails with seasonal activities. If you are looking for a hotel in Malosco, you can plan your trip around your interests and the time of year: options include named walking trails and a forest nature trail, as well as cross-country ski tracks, a cycling route with varying elevation profiles, and a hike to Monte Penegal.

Location and landscape

Malosco lies on a sloping plateau on the left bank of the Sas stream. To the north, the woods and meadows of Dasine border the village. This location describes both its connection to the stream and the northern landscape around Malosco.

Culture and history

The futurist artist Fortunato Depero, one of the leading figures of the Futurist movement, was born in Malosco in 1892. The buildings also offer specific historical points of interest: Casa Nesler features a fresco and the coat of arms of the Guarienti family, dating from 1576. The parish church of S. Tecla dates back to 1228, and Castel Malosco stands at the entrance to the village.

A chapel in the nearby cemetery serves as a memorial to those killed in the war. It is decorated with graffiti by Wenter-Marini and other ornaments. The cultural points of interest thus range from Depero’s birthplace and dated buildings to a memorial in the cemetery.

Walking trails and nature trail

The Predela and Ogià walking trail can be explored from Malosco. The Chiaset-Dasine walking trail is another green route accessible from here. Il Bosco Certificato has a different focus: this nature trail climbs from Fondo to the village of Regole di Malosco. Along the route, 16 informative stops explain ecological and scientific principles of sustainable forest management in Trentino.

Il Bosco Certificato is also part of the network of forest nature trails promoted by the Autonomous Province of Trento. Visitors interested in forest management and ecological relationships will find a specific theme to explore there; Predela and Ogià, as well as Chiaset-Dasine, are designated walking trails.

Cycling, cross-country skiing and hiking

The sections of the Alta Val di Non cycling route have different profiles: the western side is mostly flat, while the eastern section has more climbs. This gives you a specific feature to consider when choosing your route. In the Regole area north of Malosco, there are up to 11 km of cross-country ski tracks, depending on snow conditions. Plan to ski with the snow conditions at the time of your trip in mind.

From Malga di Malosco, a further 40-minute walk along a trail leads to the scenic summit of Monte Penegal. The malga is about a 40-minute walk from the village of Regole di Malosco. Lunch and an afternoon snack are available at Malga di Malosco; dinner is available by reservation. The offering is seasonal. Check opening details before visiting, especially if you are planning to eat there.

When planning your trip, you can weigh these differences according to your interests: the ski tracks depend on snow conditions, the malga’s offering is seasonal, and the cycling route has two different profiles to choose from.
