Discover Madrano-Canzolino
Accommodation in Madrano-Canzolino
When looking for a hotel in Madrano-Canzolino, your travel interests can help you decide: the lakes and fishing, the Baroque church in Madrano, or an MTB route offer different focal points. Lago di Canzolino is a small alpine hill lake. A small stream connects it to Lago di Madrano. If you want to combine your stay with scenery, architectural history or cycling, you’ll find several specific topics here to consider in your plans.
Lakes and fishing
The Associazione Pescatori Madrano Canzolino manages the lakes of Madrano and Canzolino in the Pergine area. Spinning, carp fishing and stillwater fishing are possible at both lakes. These three types of fishing give you different ways to make fishing part of your travel interests. When managing the lakes, catch and release is practised, particularly for carp and tench. This catch-and-release practice applies to the fish species mentioned. Fishing is permitted on all days of the week; it is prohibited if more than half of the lake is frozen over. Before setting out, check the applicable permit conditions and local fishing regulations.
Explore by MTB
The Giro delle frazioni di Pergine MTB route passes through Canzolino and goes to Lago di Madrano. After Canzolino, the route follows a path along the lake to Vigalzano. The description thus mentions both Lago di Madrano and the lakeside path towards Vigalzano. If you’d like to include cycling in your stay, these place references give you specific points to consider in your plans.
Church in Madrano: architectural history and altars
Madrano is home to the Chiesa della Decollazione di San Giovanni Battista. It dates back to the 15th century and is an example of Baroque architecture. The present-day church was rebuilt after 1765, completed before 1779 and consecrated on 13 July 1782. This distinguishes two periods: the church dates back to the 15th century, while the present-day building belongs to a later phase of construction. Completion and consecration were also separate stages in its history. Three Baroque marble altars were acquired for the church in 1803. For travellers interested in culture, this brings together its earlier origins, the architectural history of the present-day building and a specific detail about its furnishings.
Crafts and tastings
A description from 2021 mentions an event in Madrano and Canzolino featuring crafts and food. A basket weaver demonstrates how baskets are made; sheep and goat breeders offer workshops on making cheese and yoghurt. Polenta, Luganega sausage, local cheeses and the traditional dessert “Straboi” are available to try. The activities differ: basket making is demonstrated, the workshops focus on cheese and yoghurt, and the food is offered for tasting. If you’d like to plan your visit around these activities, please check the event dates and current programme.
