Bad Muskau: Park Culture, Cycling Routes and Wellness
Accommodation in Bad Muskau
Bad Muskau brings together park architecture, garden culture and a variety of ways to spend your stay. If you are looking for a hotel in Bad Muskau, park visits, cycling, excursions and wellness can each provide a different focus. The places and activities offer practical guidance for planning without prescribing a fixed itinerary.
Park, Bridge and Garden Culture
The Carp Bridge is a cast-iron bridge at the confluence of the Hermannsneiße. From there, you can enjoy a postcard-perfect view of the New Palace. The restored castle nursery complex includes several greenhouses and a kitchen garden. Pineapples are once again being grown there using the methods of the Pückler era—an unusual detail of its garden culture.
The named park areas also help you find your way around: the German section includes the Palace Park, Bathing Park and Mountain Park; on the Polish side are the Lower Park, the arboretum and the Braunsdorf Fields. In the northern part of the park, paths by Eichsee lead to places to sit and a small waterfall.
Tours, Cycling and Excursions
Public park tours meet at the Muskauer Park Tourist Center. They run from April to October on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays at 2 pm, and last about 1.5 to 2 hours. As this is a seasonal schedule, check that the tour is running before your trip.
Cycling is permitted and encouraged in most areas of the park, with exceptions in some restricted areas. Bicycles can be rented at Schlossvorwerk. Rental services and opening hours may change, so it is worth checking in advance. You can reach the park by bike via the Oder-Neisse Cycle Route, the Prince PĂĽckler Trail and the Frog Cycle Route.
If you are considering a horse-drawn carriage ride, its starting point is also at Schlossvorwerk. You must book the ride in advance; whether it is available depends on the provider.
Another option is an inflatable-boat trip on the Neisse: it starts at the old weir near the Orangery, goes to Żarki Wielkie and takes two and a half hours. A minibus provides the return pickup. As this trip depends on the season and provider, check in advance whether it runs on your travel dates.
From April to October, you can also take the Forest Railway from WeiĂźwasser to Bad Muskau. Check operating days before your trip.
Wellness as a Focus in Its Own Right
Bad Muskau’s natural therapeutic resources include peat, thermal brine water and a healing climate. Kulturhotel Fürst Pückler Park offers spa treatments, certified wellness and prevention programs, and health and wellness stays featuring peat and thermal brine water. This distinguishes the destination’s natural resources from the specific offerings of this hotel.
