In Goldenstedt, you can choose from a range of experiences focused on moorland, activities and cultural sites. Options include a guided moor railway ride, the castle trail to Arkeburg, facilities at the multi-generational park and the Hartensbergsee minigolf course. Historic buildings and a collection of vehicles round out the leisure activities. You can choose individual outings to suit your interests.

Moorland and nature from different perspectives

At the NIZ Goldenstedt Nature Conservation and Information Centre, also known as the “Haus im Moor” (House in the Moor), there is a barefoot trail. A guided moor railway ride lasting around an hour and a half is also available. If you plan to take the ride, check the operating days in advance; its approximate duration will help you schedule this activity.

Another moorland-inspired feature stands at the entrance to the multi-generational park: the wind-powered artwork “Moving Birds” evokes flying cranes, which stop to rest in the Goldenstedt Moor every year from October to February. The guided ride, barefoot trail and artwork with its seasonal connection to nature offer different ways to explore the theme of moorland.

Activities and leisure in Goldenstedt

The multi-generational park offers an accessible network of paths and several outdoor fitness stations. The playground has a dedicated area for toddlers, as well as climbing equipment for older children, trampolines and swings. Chess and mill games, table tennis tables, a boules court and a basketball court add to the options. The facilities range from quiet board games to exercise and sports.

There are three canoe launch and landing points in the municipality of Goldenstedt for a canoe trip. The minigolf course at Hartensbergsee, Tiefer Weg 20, was rebuilt in spring 2010 and has 18 holes. The Joba Beach-Club, playground and kiosk are right next to it. Check whether the course is open before your visit.

Arkeburg, historic monuments and vintage vehicles

Along the castle trail, individuals, groups and school classes can explore the history of the Arkeburg ringwork. The trail focuses specifically on the history of the site. The listed Bredemeyers Hof complex includes a boiler house dating from 1881, with an 18-metre-high chimney.
