Dietzenbach offers a variety of starting points for planning your stay: an observation tower with sweeping panoramic views, art along the Biberbach, historic sites and trails through natural landscapes. You can weigh up which of these should shape your visit by considering their different themes.

Views over Dietzenbach and the surrounding area

The observation tower stands on the 198-metre-high Wingertsberg, the highest point in the district of Offenbach. Its viewing platform is 21 metres high. From there, panoramic views extend across the city, the surrounding area and the Frankfurt skyline. The tower therefore offers a clear overview of the area, while other destinations in Dietzenbach focus more on art, history or nature.

Nature trails and art along the Biberbach

The RuDi circular route leads through extensive and diverse natural landscapes. Numerous animal and plant species can be discovered there, and the landscapes also provide places to relax. The Dietzenbach History Trail offers a different focus: it is part of the Rhine-Main Regional Park Route, and every stop has an audio guide accessible via QR codes.

Several works of art adorn the course of the Biberbach in SkulpTouren Park. They include “The Dream” by Ernst Stark, “Furniture and Cake” by Karsten Bott, “Romeo and Juliet Complex Hut” by Marko Lehanka, and a “Still Life” by Margit Seiler. The works are not intended merely to be viewed: visitors are also invited to touch, sit on and use them. Here, direct engagement with art takes centre stage, while the History Trail conveys its themes at each stop through the audio guide.

Historic sites and traces of the past

A historic walk through Alt-Dietzenbach takes in the Protestant church and rectory, as well as listed half-timbered houses and farmsteads. The old railway station, dating from 1898, is outside the old town centre. This distinction helps you see the walk and the station as separate points of historic interest.

The Protestant Christuskirche was built in its present form in 1753/54. Large parts of Schäfergasse are protected as a historic ensemble. The Russenhütte takes you even further back in time: numerous cremation graves from the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age have been excavated there, dating to around 1000 BC. The church, protected half-timbered areas and archaeological finds thus offer different ways to explore the town’s history.

Museums and leisure activities

Since the 1970s, the Dietzenbach Fire Brigade Museum has housed an extensive collection of historic firefighting equipment. The old vehicle hall displays large pieces of equipment, historic fire engines and portable pumps. Another section features exhibits from around the world, particularly from France, Belgium and Canada, as well as an extensive collection of vehicle models. Since exhibition contents may change, check which exhibits are currently on display before your visit.

The Dietzenbach History Museum offers themed guided tours, supplemented by craft activities, scavenger hunts, demonstrations of museum exhibits, films and multimedia. The programme may change; check in advance which tours are currently available.

Hessentagspark has a large playground for older children with a giant swing, as well as a sand play area for younger children. There is also a mini-golf course. Since the park facilities and mini-golf operations may change, check the current status before your visit. Those looking for outdoor exercise can use an outdoor fitness park with a calisthenics station featuring bars, parallel bars and ladders for bodyweight training. The balance trail on the disused Ober-Rodener-StraĂźe offers children, teenagers and adults a skills course they can tackle at their own pace, with beams, wooden blocks and stepping stones.
