Kriftel combines a distinctive local history with green spaces and leisure activities. When choosing a hotel, it can help to first decide what brings you to the area: would you like to experience the blossoming orchards, spend time in the leisure park or visit Kriftel for one of its annual festivals? The sights and activities offer different focal points and practical starting points for planning your trip.

St. Vitus and the town’s agricultural history

The Catholic Church of St. Vitus is considered a landmark of the fruit-growing community of Kriftel. With its two towers, it is the only church in the district with this feature. The church hosts concerts at Easter, Pentecost and during Advent. These dates offer a cultural reason to visit; if you would like to plan your trip around a concert, check the latest event dates.

Kriftel’s history can also be seen around Goethestraße: restored half-timbered houses and old farmsteads make up “Old Kriftel” and recall the town’s agricultural past, when farming in Kriftel was done with horses and carts. Another annual occasion is the Lindenblütenfest (Linden Blossom Festival). It is celebrated for two days in early June around Lindenplatz. If you are travelling to Kriftel for the festival, check the exact dates for your travel period.

The leisure park: plenty of activities across a large area

The 105,000-square-metre leisure park stretches between Hofheimer StraĂźe, KapellenstraĂźe and Brunnenweg. Facilities include playgrounds with sand areas, climbing frames, slides, swings and a trampoline, football pitches, table tennis tables, a beach volleyball court, a skate park, a fitness park, a bocce court and a minigolf course. There are also well-maintained paths, mature trees and a Kneipp pool. The park offers a variety of options for exercise and play alongside paths and green spaces; you can plan your visit around the activities that interest you.

Families can also enjoy the free “Spiele im Park” (“Games in the Park”) events. These invite families in particular to take part in activities together in the leisure park on Sunday afternoons. The event series is a regular feature of the annual calendar of events in the municipality of Kriftel. It is therefore best to factor the specific activities and dates into your trip planning if the programme is the reason for your visit.

Blossoming orchards, Ziegeleipark and waterside paths

There are 200,000 fruit trees on the Hochfeld. The area is ideal for walks while they are in blossom in spring. Since flowering conditions vary from year to year, the timing of a walk cannot be planned independently of the season. The fruit trees give Kriftel a distinctive seasonal appeal: a spring visit therefore has a different focus from a stay built around a festival or leisure activities.

Ziegeleipark is a stop on the Regional Park Route, which runs from the Main to the Taunus and passes through Kriftel. The park has a maze, a playground and an observation pavilion with views of the Taunus and as far as the Frankfurt skyline. The “MyZiegelei” open-air festival has also been held there for years. If the festival is the reason for your trip, check the latest festival dates before booking.

The Schwarzbach Planet Path offers another way to explore Kriftel on foot: it leads from Kriftel Leisure Park along the Schwarzbach to the Main. A hiking trail also runs along the Schwarzbach in Kriftel. You can take these routes into account when planning a park visit and a walk, without confusing them with the facilities offered by the two parks.

Connections to Frankfurt

There is a direct train connection from Kriftel station to Frankfurt am Main; Frankfurt Central Station is a 20-minute ride away. If Frankfurt is part of your plans, this rail connection offers a practical point of reference when choosing where to stay. Connections and journey times may change; check the transport operator’s latest information before travelling.
