Zeschdorf: Lakes, Trails and History
Accommodation in Zeschdorf
Zeschdorf offers several themes to consider when planning your trip: trails by the water, nature and a few historical landmarks. These include a nature trail by Schlosssee, hiking trails through the FlieĂźtal and leisure activities at Hohenjesarscher See. The different options make it easy to plan your stay around your interests: you can focus on a loop, longer trails, the bathing area or cultural and historical sights.
Trails, nature and wildlife
A two-kilometre nature trail runs around Schlosssee in Zeschdorf. Zeschdorf also has 7.5 kilometres of developed hiking trails, including routes through the “Trepliner und Alt Zeschdorfer Fließtal” nature reserve. These figures refer to different scales: the nature trail is a single loop, while the 7.5 kilometres represent the total length of the developed hiking trails. If you are looking for a specific route, the nature trail offers a clearly defined loop; for more trails, the total length of the network is a more useful guide. The “Trepliner und Alt Zeschdorfer Fließtal” is a nature reserve and home to beavers, black woodpeckers and otters. For nature lovers, the wildlife found in the area is another specific point of interest alongside the trails.
An official cycling and hiking tour starts at the “Am Seeberg” Leisure and Tourism Centre in Alt Zeschdorf. The return route goes through Wulkow along a forest and field path to Alt Zeschdorf. This lets you choose between a loop around Schlosssee and a tour that returns via Wulkow.
At Hohenjesarscher See
On the Fischerhalbinsel peninsula at Hohenjesarscher See, there is an accessible fishing pier with an adjacent car park. In Alt Zeschdorf, the bathing area at Hohenjesarscher See has a beach and a green lawn. The areas cater to different activities: fishing is the focus on the Fischerhalbinsel, while the bathing area offers a beach and lawn. Seasonal opening at the bathing area may vary; check the current conditions before your visit.
Historical landmarks
In Hohenjesar, the historic Bismarck Pump commemorates a visit by Bismarck; on Pfeilerberg, four obelisks mark the former entrance to the castle. The two places have different historical associations: the pump commemorates a visit, while the obelisks point to the former entrance to the castle.
A wider look at Märkisch-Oderland
The wider travel destination of Märkisch-Oderland offers more cultural and nature-related experiences. In Buckow, the Brecht-Weigel-Haus has been a museum since 1977. The literary museum holds readings, concerts, talks, discussions, film screenings, exhibitions and special guided tours throughout the year. In Rüdersdorf bei Berlin, the Bergfest has been celebrated every year on the first weekend in July since the mining tradition was revived; the programme and specific dates vary from year to year. For hiking in Märkische Schweiz, the 17-kilometre Natura Trail and the certified, just under 21-kilometre Märkische Schweiz Nature Park Route offer different distances. By comparison, the two-kilometre nature trail by Schlosssee is a much shorter option.
