Rehfelde can be explored for trip planning through two main themes: local history and themed trails. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first consider which of these you would like to shape your stay. The local history museum focuses on history and local chronicles; various trails lead to folk song plaques, nature themes, and churches dating from the Cistercian era.

Local History at the Museum

The Rehfelde local history museum presents the history of Rehfelde in a permanent exhibition and a small local archive. The exhibits range from rural life to industry, crafts, and commerce, as well as schools, the Eastern Railway, and the fire brigade. The municipality’s local chronicles can also be consulted there. The exhibition introduces you to various aspects of local life and work, while the chronicles add to the picture of local history. If you plan to visit the museum, check its opening hours in advance.

Song Trail: Plaques and Circular Route

Along the 15-kilometer network of the Rehfelde–Werder–Zinndorf Song Trail, granite blocks, black locust trunks, and fieldstones display song plaques. The plaques feature the lyrics of 36 German and nine Polish folk songs. The trail’s design thus combines a range of materials with a broad selection of songs. One specific route on the Song Trail is 10 kilometers long: it runs from Rehfelde through Werder, Zinndorf, and the Zinndorf fields, then back to Rehfelde. When planning, it is useful to distinguish between the 15-kilometer network and this described 10-kilometer route; the song plaques also give the route a musical connection.

Nature Themes and Scenic Trails

The nature trail is a circular route that starts at Rehfelde Primary School. Large information boards along Birkenweg cover native songbirds, the red wood ant, beetles, and natural and artificial caves. The topics therefore range from birds and insects to caves. Unlike the Song Trail, the focus here is on information about nature.

The nature and adventure circular trail offers a different focus: it runs through the Rehfelde settlement, passes through Rehfelde Heath and by Lake Zimmersee, and combines nature and culture. When choosing a trail, you can therefore compare different focuses: information boards about specific nature topics on the nature trail, or the sequence of landscapes and the connection between nature and culture on the nature and adventure circular trail.

The Lily Circular Trail adds a historical connection to the options. It links the villages of Rehfelde, Werder, and Zinndorf and their churches dating from the Cistercian era. So, alongside songs and nature themes, village and church history are also distinct interests to consider when planning your trip.

Hiking Information

The Rehfelde tourism pavilion provides information about hikes on circular trails in the municipality, the Märkische Schweiz, and the surrounding area. If you would like to use this information for your planning, check the pavilion’s current operating details before you travel.

A Wider Look at Märkisch-Oderland

The wider destination of Märkisch-Oderland offers additional cultural and nature themes of its own. In Buckow, the Brecht-Weigel House has been a museum since 1977. The literature museum hosts readings, concerts, talks, discussions, films, exhibitions, and special guided tours throughout the year; individual offerings vary.

The Märkische Schweiz can also be explored on different routes within the wider destination of Märkisch-Oderland: the Natura Trail is 17 kilometers long, while the certified Märkische Schweiz Nature Park Route is just under 21 kilometers. If you plan to hike these trails, check local trail conditions. This helps keep Rehfelde’s themes clearly distinct from the additional offerings in the wider destination.
