Reichenow-Möglin: Castle, Manor Park and Hotel
Accommodation in Reichenow-Möglin
Reichenow-Möglin offers a range of attractions, including Reichenow Castle, the manor park and Möglin village church: English Tudor style, a tribute to Thaer, church history and a swimming area by Castle Lake. The other places offer their own highlights for your stay.
Reichenow Castle: Architecture and Hotel
Reichenow Castle is set in the parkland by Long Lake. This notable building in the English Tudor style was built around 1900 and served as a filming location for the series “Bibi & Tina”. The stylishly restored castle now houses a hotel with a restaurant. The hotel has a park with access to the lake.
The castle kitchen focuses on regional, sustainable, fresh and hearty cuisine. The restaurant welcomes diners from the neighborhood as well as hotel guests. If you are planning a stay at the castle, check the hotel and restaurant details again before your trip.
Tributes to Thaer in the Manor Park and Möglin
Albrecht Daniel Thaer’s grave is in Möglin Manor Park. A circular path leads to a marble bust of Thaer from 1978 and a large memorial stone with a bronze relief from 1856. The manor park, farmyard, manor house and inspector’s house are all listed as historic monuments.
The Thaer exhibition is also in Möglin: since 2009, a permanent exhibition in a modern pavilion has been devoted to the life and work of teacher, statesman and agricultural scientist Albrecht Daniel Thaer (1752–1828). If you plan to visit the exhibition, check the current opening hours separately.
Möglin Village Church: Building History and Visiting
Möglin village church is a rectangular fieldstone building; its older fabric dates from the late 16th century. In April 1945, the church was destroyed, leaving only three of its enclosing walls. During reconstruction from 1955 to 1962, all of the interior furnishings were lost. The sequence of the earlier building, its destruction and reconstruction shapes the history of the church. By contrast, the manor park and exhibition focus on Thaer.
Möglin village church can be visited through the Thaer Memorial Site in Möglin. Check the latest visitor access information before planning your visit.
Swimming Area at Reichenow Castle Lake
The swimming area at Reichenow Castle Lake is opposite the castle, on the southeastern shore of the forest lake, right on the edge of the village. It has a wide sandy area and a sunbathing area, as well as a jetty and a small diving platform. Access is via the path along the southeastern shore of the lake.
Parking for the swimming area is available in the village and along the village street. Check access and facilities before your visit; parking arrangements may also change. This lets you plan swimming and visits to the historic sites as separate highlights of your stay.
