If you choose Groß Neuendorf as your destination, you can tailor your stay to different interests: technology and exhibitions at the cultural harbor, historic sites, or a cycling tour. The attractions offer concrete points of reference for planning, without requiring every activity to involve the same kind of visit.

Cultural Harbor: Agricultural Machinery, Tower, and Oder River

The Groß Neuendorf Cultural Harbor is the 23rd cultural heritage site in the Oderbruch. Since 2006, the warehouse at Hafenstraße 3 has housed a permanent agricultural machinery exhibition. The historic loading tower contains a tower café; an exhibition is located on its lower three floors. As café operations may change, check the latest information before your visit. This allows you to treat the exhibition in the warehouse and the exhibition rooms in the tower as separate highlights.

The former conveyor bridge has also been given a new function: it was converted into a public observation platform. Charter trips on the Oder are offered from the cultural harbor’s landing stage. If you plan a trip, check in advance whether it will run on the day of your visit. The exhibition, the view, and a possible boat trip each offer a different way to spend time at the cultural harbor.

Theater with Advance Booking

The theater in the railway carriage is a historic theater housed in a railway carriage right by the Oder in Groß Neuendorf. Its program includes Old Berlin cabaret, romantic piano evenings, erotic late-night programs, and readings. Performances are available only by advance reservation for groups of at least 15 people. Arrange a performance in advance and take the minimum group size into account when planning.

Jewish Cemetery and Craft Museum

The Groß Neuendorf Jewish Cemetery preserves 29 surviving gravestones and visible remnants of the former place of worship. The former synagogue is attached to a simple residential house. These historic traces offer a different focus from the technology exhibitions at the cultural harbor. Groß Neuendorf also has a shoemaking and blacksmithing museum. If you plan to visit the museum, ask about visiting arrangements in advance.

Cycling Routes with Different Connections

For cyclists, it is useful to distinguish between two route connections. The well-signposted Königstour in the Oderbruch follows the Oder again from Zollbrücke to Groß Neuendorf. Groß Neuendorf is also a recommended stop on the Oder–Neiße Cycle Route. The first describes a stretch of route leading to the town; the second describes its role as a stop on a named cycle route. When planning, you can therefore decide whether to follow the described route from Zollbrücke or make a stop along the Oder–Neiße Cycle Route.

In the wider destination of Letschin

Other attractions are in the wider destination of Letschin, not in Groß Neuendorf. The Schinkel Tower in Letschin is 37 meters tall and is the surviving remnant of a church built in 1818/1819 to the plans of Karl Friedrich Schinkel. A small exhibition about the church and tower is located on the ground floor. The Letschin local history rooms display household items, tools, and furniture from earlier times, explain the village’s history, and illustrate Theodor Fontane’s connection to his parents’ home in Letschin and to the Oderbruch. The Letschin Railway Museum is near the Europaradweg R1 and has a direct mooring on the Hauptgraben.
