Sinzheim offers a variety of starting points for planning your trip: paths through vineyards and forests, buildings with views, and seasonal leisure and culinary experiences. Whether you prefer hiking, cycling or visiting places of cultural and scenic interest, different details will shape your plans.

Wine Trails, Hikes and Cycling Routes

The Sinzheim Wine Hiking Trail leads through vineyards, where information boards explain the different grape varieties. The Sängerrundweg Winden is known as a scenic and varied hiking route. The Ortenau Wine Trail runs through the foothills near Sinzheim. Another option on foot is the walk from Sinzheim to Fremersberg: it passes through vineyards as well as coniferous and mixed forests, and by the Bergsee lake near Vormberg.

There are also specific routes to consider for cycling. The Sinzheim cycling map shows routes around Sinzheim; the Baden Asparagus Route is an alternative cycling route near Sinzheim. Since map information can be updated, it is advisable to check the latest edition when planning. This makes it possible to distinguish the hiking routes and landscape sections described from the designated cycling options, rather than combining them into a single route.

Forests, Water and Tranquil Places

Waldenecksee is a lake of approximately one hectare between Fremersberg and Yburg. The Bergsee lake by the Mariengrotte is situated in a rocky hollow about 15 metres deep. A forest path leads from there to the Mariengrotte, which lies at the edge of the forest near Vormberg and is regarded as a place of peace and reflection. An outdoor service is held there on Sunday mornings every year around the Feast of the Assumption; the specific arrangements may vary.

The Ebenung Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers offers another scenic view, overlooking the Rhine Valley. These places each have a distinct character: Waldenecksee is notable for its location between two elevations, while the Mariengrotte also offers a forest path and a contemplative atmosphere.

Buildings and Views

St. Martin's Parish Church was built between 1898 and 1900 and is considered one of the important architectural monuments in central Baden. Its 72.5-metre-high tower has a spiral staircase with 200 steps leading to a gallery with panoramic views. Access to the church tower depends on events, so check the access arrangements before planning a visit.

The Fremersberg Tower also offers a viewpoint: its platform can be reached via 144 spiral staircase steps, although access arrangements may vary. The number of steps provides a concrete comparison between the two climbs: at the parish church, the longer staircase leads to the gallery; at the Fremersberg Tower, it leads to the viewing platform. Check access arrangements for each before planning a visit.

Farm Experiences and Leisure

Hof Ibach combines shopping and refreshments with a range of farm-related experiences. The farm shop sells its own asparagus, strawberries, raspberries, beef and eggs, as well as other regional products. Product availability depends on the season. The farm café serves homemade cakes, gateaux and pastries, mostly prepared with regional ingredients; the selection changes with the seasons.

The farm café has a play corner and a covered terrace; a playground and a goat enclosure are next door. Farm tours are offered for kindergartens, schools and other groups and must be arranged in advance. These are different ways to experience the farm: from buying seasonal produce and visiting the café to taking a coordinated group tour.

Erlebnisminigolf Sinzheim opened in 2020 and has 18 holes that test players' skill and knowledge of regional tourism. The holes feature, among other things, the Schwarzwaldhochstraße, the Iffezheim racecourse and the sundial at Klostergut Fremersberg. Check current access arrangements before setting out.

The multi-generational park is a public play and leisure area near the Sinzheim light rail stop. Facilities include a barbecue hut that can be rented; availability may change, so it is advisable to check in advance. Leiberstung bathing area has a designated swimming area marked by buoys and swim lines. As a seasonal facility, it is subject to current bathing conditions: check the applicable rules before your visit.
