Perelli can be explored when planning your trip through its hiking trails as well as its hamlets, churches and cultural heritage. First, consider whether you mainly want to hike during your stay or also discover local sights and storytelling traditions. The routes differ in length, duration, intended audience and course, giving you practical points to consider when planning.

Seven hamlets and a striking landscape feature

Perelli consists of the seven hamlets of Fungaghja, Casenove, Paese, Pied’a Costa, Casella, Quercepiane and Ferrera. Punta di l’Orsaja rises above the village, reaching an altitude of 1,438 metres. Perelli is also part of the Parc Régional de la Corse. Both a named landscape feature and its inclusion in the regional park are therefore useful points of reference for a stay.

Compare hiking routes by distance and course

The Boucle 23 circular hike passes through Perelli, is about 9 kilometres long and takes approximately three hours. It was formerly called the “ronde des fontaines”. By comparison, the Boucle 24 is longer at 11.5 kilometres and is intended for experienced hikers. It runs from Ortale via Piazzali, Novale and Valle d’Alesani to Perelli. Boucle 23 is therefore about 2.5 kilometres shorter; its approximate duration also gives you a practical indication for budgeting your time.

For the Boucle 31, the starting point and one feature of the route are specified: it begins at the parish church of Perelli and passes through a chestnut grove. The long-distance trail “Mare a Mare Nord” offers another option: it also passes through Perelli and runs from Moriani to Cargèse. This lets you distinguish between circular hikes with described local features and a long-distance trail. Trail conditions can change, so check them before setting out.

Churches, bell tower and murals

Perelli’s sights include the parish church of San Silivestru and its bell tower. The parish church of Saint-Sylvestre may date from the 17th century or the first half of the 18th century; it was remodelled in the 19th century. The ceiling above the nave features monumental murals depicting the Immaculate Conception, the Trinity and the four Evangelists.

The chapel of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul is also among the village’s religious buildings. It may date from the 19th century and was remodelled at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. For both buildings, the original date of construction is presented as a possibility, while the remodelling details locate later changes. Together, the church and chapel offer two distinct ways to explore Perelli’s architectural history, while the murals add a specific iconographic programme.

A figure from Corsican storytelling tradition

Perelli is considered a possible birthplace of Petru Giovanni Ficone, known as Grossu Minutu. He is said to have been born in 1715 and is a mythical figure. His pranks and anecdotes illustrate the Corsican “Macagna”. The cultural perspective therefore extends beyond the buildings: alongside the church and chapel is a figure whose stories are connected with this Corsican tradition.

Plan your stay around your interests

If you are looking for a hotel in Perelli, you can start by considering what you want to focus on during your stay. For hiking, the routes offer different points of comparison: the approximate duration and distance of Boucle 23, the length and intended audience of Boucle 24, or the start at the parish church for Boucle 31. For cultural and historical interests, consider the religious buildings, murals and Grossu Minutu. This way, you can match your search to the travel plans you have in mind for Perelli.
