Discover Rogliano
Accommodation in Rogliano
Rogliano combines coastal hiking trails with protected natural areas and historic buildings. The Pointe du Cap Corse in the municipality of Rogliano covers a protected area of 668.69 hectares. The Pointe has eleven natural habitats of Community interest, including four priority habitats. Access conditions may change with the weather and management decisions.
Coastal hike or circular trail in Rogliano
The Sentier des Douaniers is a 19-kilometre PR hiking trail along the coast of Cap Corse between Macinaggio-Rogliano and Centuri. Allow more than eight hours for the full route; check local conditions before setting out. Protected natural areas and a nature reserve lie along the route. The landscape also includes Genoese towers, cliffs and dunes, as well as fauna and flora.
Another hiking option is the Chemin de Rogliano – Chapelle Sant'Anna – Lavoir de Quercioli. This PR hiking trail starts and ends in Rogliano and is classified as easy. This gives you two different options: a trail classified as easy that starts and finishes in the village, and the 19-kilometre coastal route, which takes more than eight hours to complete. The classification describes the trail; local conditions may change.
The Tour Santa-Maria, also known as the Tour de la Chiappella, is also located in the municipality of Rogliano along the Sentier des Douaniers. The Conservatoire du littoral site is not accessible. Take this restriction into account when planning, rather than including a visit to the site as part of your hike.
Chapels and architecture
The Chapelle Sainte-Marie is located on the Sentier des Douaniers. From July to September, it can be visited free of charge between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.; a visit takes about an hour. As this is seasonal visitor information and opening periods may change, check the current hours before your visit.
The church of Sant'Agnellu stands in the centre of Rogliano on a terrace dating from the 16th century. It was enlarged in the 18th century and given a large classical façade. From the recently renovated forecourt, you can enjoy panoramic views of the marine of Rogliano, the coast and the Tuscan Archipelago. The condition of the forecourt may change; confirm it before your visit if needed.
Other buildings also give Rogliano a distinctive historical character. The Franciscan monastery overlooks the village and has stood there since 1520. The Santa Croce brotherhood dates from the 17th century and is classified. Ruins remain of San Columbanu Castle, associated with the Da Mare family.
Marina and trip planning
The marine of Rogliano, Macinaghju, has a fishing and pleasure-boat harbour with 605 berths. Macinaghju is described as the largest harbour on Cap Corse. The number of berths indicates the harbour's capacity; check availability and services separately. This lets you plan your stay around the area’s actual highlights: a long coastal hike, a trail classified as easy, seasonal visiting hours, or the village’s buildings.
