Discover Kúty: Historic Buildings and River Landscapes
Accommodation in Kúty
If you are looking for a hotel in Kúty, learning about the town’s history and landscape can help you get a sense of the destination. Its buildings reflect different historical periods; the floodplains and terraces along the rivers, as well as a cycle path along the Morava, are another key feature. This can help you decide whether architecture and history or the river landscape should shape your trip most.
Historic Buildings and Local History
The bell tower in Kúty was built in 1826 on the site of an earlier wooden bell tower. Majerská stodola is the last partially preserved building of the Kúty manor farm and dates from the reign of Maria Theresa. The two buildings offer different historical perspectives: the bell tower continues the history of an earlier structure on the same site, while Majerská stodola is part of the manor farm’s history.
The Church of Saint Joseph the Foster Father in Kúty is a Baroque church. It was built between 1718 and 1726; its side altars date from the mid-18th century. The church was therefore built at the beginning of the century, while the altars belong to a later period in the same century.
Kaniža is considered the oldest part of Kúty. In Za Kanižou, the Chapel of Saint Anne stands on the site of a former burial ground; the smaller, newer building dates from 1852. Here, the history of a part of town is linked to the history of a specific building site.
A sculpture group depicting Saints Cyril and Methodius stands in the park in front of Kúty Primary School. It adds a sculptural element to the view of the churches and chapel. Dedina, on Bratislavská ulica, also has distinctive historic building structures. They are oriented perpendicular to public roads, with their courtyards facing the street. The arrangement of buildings within the street layout is therefore also part of the town’s architectural character.
Landscape and Cycle Path Along the Morava
The cadastral area of Kúty includes the floodplains of the Myjava, as well as the floodplains and terraces of the Morava. Floodplains are therefore part of the landscape along both rivers, while the terraces are associated with the Morava. The area around the Morava also includes a site of European importance with enhanced protection, within the cadastral area.
The Morava is also part of the cycling experience: a cycle path runs along the embankment within the cadastral area of Kúty. It connects to cycle paths in the Czech Republic and Austria. If you are planning a ride, check current route conditions in advance.
Railway Station and Trip Planning
Kúty is a railway junction where the main railway lines meet at the station. This is a separate aspect of trip planning, alongside local history and the river landscape. Kúty railway station has step-free access from the reference point (as of 2026). If this access information is important for your plans, check it again before travelling.
