Šajdíkove Humence – Golf, Landscape and Local History
Accommodation in Šajdíkove Humence
For a stay in Šajdíkove Humence, you can focus on several different things: golf at Penati Golf Resort, cycling and hiking routes, local architecture and festival culture, or the landscape in the Myjava river basin. When looking for a hotel, you can first consider whether sport, outdoor activities or local history will shape your trip.
Landscape in the Myjava river basin
Šajdíkove Humence lies in the Myjava river basin. The local landscape includes wetlands, sand dunes and pine forests. These features give the destination its own distinctive landscape, alongside its golf courses and buildings.
Golf courses with distinct profiles
The Legend Course at Penati Golf Resort in Šajdíkove Humence is an 18-hole golf course designed by Nicklaus Design. It meets USGA standards at a world-class PGA level. One especially notable feature is hole 15: it is 712 metres long, is considered the longest hole in Central Europe and has 11 tees.
The Heritage Course is the resort’s second 18-hole course and was officially opened in August 2013. The Heritage Course can therefore be described primarily as the resort’s second course and in terms of its opening history; the Legend Course is notable for its design origins and the details of hole 15. The two courses have distinct features to help you decide how to pursue your interest in golf in Šajdíkove Humence.
Cycling and hiking routes
The Senica–Šaštín cycling route follows the Myjava through Šaštín-Stráže, Borský Mikuláš, Štefanov and Šajdíkove Humence. Within the cadastral area of Šajdíkove Humence, its two sections connect at road III/1156. This connection at the road is a precise landmark for the local route; the route also passes through several named places.
The Záhorácka magistrála, route 0772, runs for 5.5 km through Šajdíkove Humence. This provides different details for comparing the routes: the cycling route is described by its course along the Myjava and its connection at road III/1156, while route 0772 is given a specific length within the municipality. Check the current course of both routes before setting out; construction and completion status may change for the cycling route.
Local history and architecture
The Church of St. Augustine is a 20th-century building. It was built in the 1940s and consecrated in 1951. A wooden cross depicting the crucified Jesus also dates from 1951 and is among the historical and cultural sights. The year refers to different things for the church and the cross: for the church, it is the year of consecration; for the cross, the year it dates from.
A bell tower with a wooden roof is also among the historically and culturally valuable objects. House No. 169 in the U Michálkov settlement represents a different style of construction: it is one of the best-preserved examples of the traditional folk architecture of Šajdíkove Humence. The church, cross, bell tower and house thus represent different facets of local architectural and cultural history.
Church fairs and festival traditions
Festival traditions include summer and autumn church fairs, associated with the anniversary of the church’s consecration on 12 June. If you want to plan your trip around a specific festival, check the event dates in advance.
