Poriadie combines a distinctly dispersed settlement pattern with hiking trails and historic memorial sites. The municipality lies on the gentle slopes of the Myjava Hills; part of it is located on the southwestern foothills of the White Carpathians, below the Javorina massif. For travelers interested in both the landscape and local history, this offers a variety of themes to explore.

Landscape and local character

Poriadie’s dispersed settlement pattern is typical of the kopanice settlement form. Alongside its location in the Myjava Hills, it shapes the character of the municipality. The foothills of the White Carpathians below the Javorina massif include part of the municipality. These geographical features provide a setting for trails and memorial sites to consider when planning your stay.

Memorial sites and history

In the Krivosudy locality, a partisan group was stationed in October 1944. The partisan site includes the Zbojníčka spring and earth bunkers built there by the partisans. The bunkers in Krivosudy are preserved and equipped with simple wooden bunks that served as beds. These details provide a tangible impression of what the historic structures were like.

The U Klasovitých monument commemorates the final battle of the first campaign of the insurgent army of the Slovak Revolution in 1848. The memorial complex was officially unveiled in 1968. A staircase lined with trees leads to the monument. You may therefore want to take this approach into account when planning your visit.

Another memorial site is the Dibrovov monument on the ridge of the White Carpathians. Its location is also connected to a longer hiking route: the green-marked trail intersects with the long-distance Cesta hrdinov SNP at the monument.

Comparing hiking trails

The Poriadie–Rudník educational trail is 2.284 kilometers long and has three stops with information boards. It follows existing paved and forest paths. This makes it a shorter option than the green-marked hiking trail No. 5116, which runs 10.3 kilometers from Poriadie railway station via Zemlianky, the SNP monument, and Prídolie to the Dibrovov monument on the Czech border.

Another option is the easy, green-marked trail from Poriadie to the monument in Krivosudy. It is approximately three kilometers long. Check the trail conditions before setting out. The three routes differ in length and course: the educational trail follows paved and forest paths, the route to Krivosudy leads to the monument there, and the longer route reaches the Dibrovov monument on the border. This lets you take your preferred route length into account when planning, without treating the trails as equivalent.

Events and orientation

Jarný slnovrat is a traditional pre-Easter event held at the Poriadie Cultural House. The public goulash-cooking competition is also among the local events: it was held in 2024 as its 8th edition, in 2025 as its 9th, and in 2026 as its 10th. These editions indicate a sequence of specific event dates, without implying future dates.

There is a smart bicycle shelter in the center of Poriadie. It has a charger for six electric bicycles and a touchscreen information panel where visitors can access useful information. The railway is also part of the local landscape: the line running through Poriadie was built and opened in 1930, and the station is named after the municipality.

If you are looking for a hotel in Poriadie, first decide what you would like to focus on during your stay: the memorial sites, a shorter trail, or a longer hike. You can then check whether a specific hotel offer suits your plans.
