Church and architectural history

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary (Kostol Nepoškvrneného počatia Panny Márie) is an originally Baroque building dating from the 18th century. It was remodelled in the 19th century; the most recent structural alteration took place in 1902.

The church has a single nave. The presbytery ends in a slight curve, a sacristy is attached, and the tower is integrated into the building.

The church stands on elevated ground, is in good condition and continues to serve its purpose. Above it are a cemetery and a car park; from there, you can enjoy views including one of Topoľčany Castle. Check local access information before planning your visit.

Stream, reservoir and views

The Pravotický potok flows through Pravotice and joins the Bebrava at Livina; the Bebrava belongs to the Nitra river basin. The Jerichov reservoir borders the cadastral area of Pravotice.

A walnut avenue was planted above Pravotice near the church in 2022. It has an acacia swing and views of the Považský Inovec and Tríbeč mountain ranges. Access is from the road towards Rybany. The location, views and access provide concrete reference points if you want to get a sense of the scenic side of Pravotice.

Events and meat products

Šarkaniáda is one of the events held annually in Pravotice. Each September, the PD Brezina Agricultural Production Cooperative also organises an open day. Visitors can tour the premises, see agricultural machinery and animals, and sample and buy meat products. The combination of a farm tour and food is part of the open day; when planning your trip, it is advisable to check the specific event dates.
