Tesáre between Water and Cultural Heritage

Protected landscapes and water

The Natura 2000 site SKUEV0135 Bočina is located in the cadastral areas of the municipalities of Tesáre and Závada and covers a total of 45.18 hectares. Its protected features include willow-poplar-alder floodplain forests and stands of common juniper. Tesársky park protected area covers 1.96 hectares and has protection level 3.

The Priehrada Tesáre reservoir is a water reservoir on the Zľavský potok at river kilometre 9.700. Its northern edge borders Tesáre’s built-up area. This location gives the waterside site a direct connection to the municipality, while Bočina, spanning two cadastral areas, covers a larger area.

Trails, a spring and recreation by the water

The Kyselka mineral groundwater spring, also called Vajcovka, is located in the cadastral area of Tesáre. A nature trail on the right bank of the reservoir leads to the spring. It was made accessible in 2014 as part of the “Nestlé pre vodu v krajine” project by the Nadácia Ekopolis, together with the municipality of Tesáre, DHZ Tesáre volunteers, and the Kroko Velo and Babinec groups. Check locally before visiting to see whether the trail and spring are currently accessible.

The reservoir is used for fishing, swimming and water sports. More intensive recreational use requires suitable water quality and health safety levels. Therefore, check local conditions before entering the water.

Marked cycling routes also provide guidance: they pass through the cadastral area of Tesáre towards the Považský Inovec mountains. The cycle routes are named for a direction, while the nature trail to Vajcovka has a specific destination. This allows you to distinguish between a cycling trip towards the mountains and a walk to the spring, without treating them as the same route.

Kokošová manor house and historic park

Kokošová manor house stands on a rise in a park on the southwestern edge of Tesáre. It is also known as Kaštieľ rodiny Lenárt; its origins date back to the 17th century. After 1770, the manor house was remodelled in the Baroque-Classicist style.

The complex includes a Baroque chapel dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk, dated to 1772. The historic park next to the manor house is particularly valuable for its landscape design, preserved layout and dendrological composition. Thus, in addition to its architectural history, the site offers a distinctive perspective on the design of the park.

Tesárske Vinobranie dates
