Krušovce brings together a neoclassical manor house, a Romanesque church and a layered history of parkland. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay here, architectural history, parkland or outdoor activities in the cadastral area can each shape a different focus for your trip planning.

Manor House, Church and Local History

Kaštieľ Krušovce is a two-storey neoclassical manor house. Count František Beréni had it built in 1830 on older foundations; in 1906, it was remodelled into its present form. The building’s history therefore has two dates marking different events: its construction on older foundations and its later remodelling.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built around 1240 in the Romanesque style; its earliest written mention dates from 1285. The construction date and the written record are different points of reference: the first indicates the approximate date of origin, while the second is the earliest known mention. Remains of the former fortifications are also preserved at the church, pointing to the building’s defensive character. It serves as the parish church of the local parish.

The local cultural history also includes the making of crocheted covers from white or coloured yarn, a craft characteristic of Krušovce. One specific recent date is 30 April 2025: on that day, a decorated maypole was erected in front of the cultural centre. The event was linked to the traditional custom.

Park History and Landscape

Park pri kaštieli covers 6.23 hectares and, together with Kaštieľ Krušovce, forms a harmonious landscape ensemble. Its history dates back to a Baroque French-style park laid out in the mid-18th century. At the beginning of the 19th century, the grounds were expanded into an English landscape park. The two garden styles mark different stages in the park’s development.

A path divides the park into two large areas. The southwest is dominated by exotic trees and shrubs among smaller meadows. In the northeast, native trees and shrubs and two larger meadows shape the landscape. The areas thus differ both in their trees and shrubs and in the arrangement and size of their meadows.
