If you’d like to include regional cuisine in your trip, this is a specific culinary option. Visits are possible only with a reservation made at least four hours in advance; factor this notice period into your daily plans.

Church history

The Archdiocese’s current official website lists the Roman Catholic parish of Árpád-házi Szent Erzsébet in Hodoșa. The Roman Catholic church in Hodoșa was built in 1899 with the support of Bishop gróf Mailáth Gusztáv. The Orthodox Church of the Holy Archangels was founded in 1937. The 38-year interval places these events in chronological order: first the Roman Catholic church was built, and later the Orthodox church was founded. For orientation, these are two distinct historical events and religious points of reference.

Hiking trails nearby

Nearby, in Toplița, there are six marked and approved mountain hiking trails. Three lead to the ridge of the Călimani Mountains, and three to the Gurghiu Mountain ranges. The trails are therefore evenly divided between two mountain destinations. This gives you a specific choice when planning an outing: the Călimani ridge or the Gurghiu ranges. If hiking is one of your travel interests, you can use these two areas as distinct points of reference for your plans.

Mesothermal waters in Toplița

In Toplița, Băile Banffy offers springs and a swimming pool with mesothermal water. The mesothermal waterfall of Toplița is formed by the thermal springs in the mountains at the Bradul resort. The two water attractions differ in character: Băile Banffy offers springs and a swimming pool, while the waterfall is notable for being formed by mesothermal mountain springs.
