Venus – Beach, Lake and distinctive hotel architecture
Accommodation in Venus
Venus is arranged around the artificial Lake Venus. The beach, water sports and distinctive hotel architecture give the resort several different focal points. When looking for hotels, you can consider whether the beach and water, the town’s architectural history, or horseback riding and horse breeding in the surrounding area are most important for your trip.
Beach, lake and nature reserve
The beach in Venus is approximately 1.5 kilometres long and up to 200 metres wide. Three deep bays divide it into narrow sections. Coastal works can change the beach’s layout. If the beach’s exact shape is important to your plans, it is worth checking current local information.
The artificial Lake Venus is also part of the town’s layout: Venus is arranged around the lake. Among the coastal resorts, Venus has the largest green area. Southwest of the resort lies the 98-hectare Mlaștina Hergheliei nature reserve, a mixed reserve. It includes open water, marsh vegetation and reed beds. In the townscape, the beach and lake thus contrast with a protected wetland landscape as distinct natural features.
Hotel architecture with a history
Venus was designed and built in the early 1970s. Most hotels bear female names from Roman mythology or the names of flowers. Specific building forms are also part of the resort’s architecture: Hotel Raluca in Venus is a circular, four-storey building, with a Japanese garden in its centre.
The floor plans of the high-rise Vulturul, Cocorul and Pajura hotels resemble a spider. Their rooms are arranged radially around a central core and are tilted at different angles toward it. Here, “radial” means that the rooms are arranged like rays around the core; the angle of each room varies. This design differs from Hotel Raluca’s circular form and gives you two specific examples of the resort’s architecture.
Water sports and activities in the surrounding area
Water sports offered in Venus include yachting, windsurfing, pedal boating, parasailing, kitesurfing, banana boat rides and jet skiing. Operators and seasonal availability may change. Scuba diving courses and boat trips at sea are also offered in Venus; providers and availability may vary. If these activities are important to your trip, check current offers in advance.

It specialises in breeding Arabian thoroughbreds and offers public tours, equestrian shows and riding lessons at its own racecourse. Dates and access may change.
