When looking for a hotel in Renda, your travel dates and interests can help guide your choice. The area’s clearly defined attractions include protected waterfalls, Renda Hillfort, historic sites and parish festivities. If you want to include nature, archaeological traces or a particular event, you can use these as a starting point for planning.

Natural landscape and routes

Two waterfalls have formed on the small Īvande River in Renda: the Īvande and Valdātu Waterfalls. Both are protected geological natural monuments. As additional geographical context, Renda Parish is part of the administrative division of the Abava Valley.

Section 93 of the Mežtaka trail between Kuldīga and Renda runs mostly along gravel roads. Short sections follow paths and dirt tracks; in Kuldīga and Renda, the route runs along paved roads. You can take these different surfaces into account when planning your stage. As conditions may change with maintenance, check the latest route information before setting out.

History and cultural monuments

Renda Hillfort is a state-protected cultural monument located in Renda near the houses known as “Valdāti.” Its preserved values include its appearance in the landscape, intangible evidence, the relief of the fortifications, the cultural layer and archaeological artefacts. The protected heritage therefore encompasses several aspects: the landscape, the shape of the fortifications, traces in the soil and intangible evidence.

Renda Evangelical Lutheran Church was consecrated in 1786; its tower was rebuilt in 1887. The Ancient Rock Graves at Renda consist of an old burial mound with stone cairns. A bronze spiral ring, an iron spearhead, small beads and a Roman coin were found there. These artefacts are considered typical of the first centuries AD. The finds thus date to an earlier period than the two dated milestones in the church’s history: its consecration and the rebuilding of its tower.
