Střílky offers two distinct highlights to consider when planning your trip: baroque architecture and walking routes around the town. The Baroque Cemetery and the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary are places of historical and religious interest; the “Příroda a okolí Střílek” nature trail focuses on nature and the landscape. Their approximate lengths can help you make an initial comparison of the walking options. The cemetery, church and castle also have different visiting conditions to bear in mind.

Baroque Cemetery and Church

The cemetery is one of the significant baroque architectural monuments. Antonín Amand Petřvaldský z Petřvaldu, the former owner of the Střílky and Tovačov estates, had it built between 1730 and 1743. Its construction dates and patron make the cemetery’s historical connections tangible.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary houses an original organ dating from 1771, made by the organ builder František Sieber. It also contains two valuable paintings by the painter and Jesuit Ignác Raab from Velehrad. The cemetery and church offer different points of interest: the history of a Baroque monument at the former, and the organ and paintings at the latter.

The Baroque Cemetery and church are open from 1 May to 30 September, daily except Mondays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The official schedule may change, so check visiting hours before your visit.

Nature Trail and Walking Routes

The marked “Příroda a okolí Střílek” nature trail has eleven stops and is about 6.5 kilometres long. Its nature-related features include a spring emerging from the rock, Flysch sandstone formations and a site designated as a protected natural monument. Water, geology and nature conservation each provide a different focus.

The ruins of Střílecký hrad offer another historical highlight: they are the remains of an early Gothic castle built in the second half of the 13th century. Stone sections of the walls have survived.

Another walking option is the “Dobrodružné Chřiby ze Střílek na Komárec” route. It is about 6 to 8 kilometres long, putting both options in a similar range in terms of distance. The nature trail combines its approximate length with eleven stops; the other route names Komárec as its destination. You can compare the two differently described routes by their distance and individual focus.
