Honětice: Swimming Biotope, Hiking Route and Cultural Heritage
Accommodation in Honětice
Honětice offers several distinct points of interest for planning a trip: the Dvůr Honětice swimming biotope, the Kaštanová hiking route and various cultural and historical sites. At the biotope, the focus is on natural water filtration and swimming areas. The hiking route combines green trail markings, views and historical stops. St. Anne’s Chapel, the statue of St. John of Nepomuk and the prehistoric hillfort add local history from different periods to the picture. Which of these aspects you include in your stay depends on whether swimming, hiking or cultural history is most important to you.
Dvůr Honětice Swimming Biotope
The Dvůr Honětice swimming biotope was built in 2012 as a bathing area with a natural water filtration system. Three biological zones clean the water; these include planted shallow-water areas and a diverse community of aquatic plants. The filtration system and plant zones therefore shape the design of the bathing area. The swimming area includes a large paddling pool and a non-swimmer area.
Refreshments and sports equipment rental are also available at the swimming biotope. A washroom, toilets and showers are provided; all facilities are accessible to people with disabilities. Swimming areas, facilities and services may be seasonal. Therefore, check which offerings are available during your travel dates before you set off.
Kaštanová Hiking Route and Landscape
From Zdislavice towards Honětice, the Kaštanová hiking route follows a trail marked in green. Above Honětice, it passes the abandoned settlement of Svárov and the remains of the Tvrz Svárov fortress. Along the way, it offers views of Chřiby, Kroměřížsko and the Hostýnské vrchy. Check the green trail markings on site.
The views and historical stops give the route different points of interest: the three named landscape areas are complemented by links to an abandoned settlement and a fortress. This lets you combine hiking with scenic views or a focus on cultural history. Above Honětice, there is also a chestnut avenue with 332 trees, designated as a protected heritage avenue.
Chapel, Monument and Hillfort
St. Anne’s Chapel stands in Honětice village square and is a locally significant landmark. The statue of St. John of Nepomuk is the only monument in Honětice and dates from the mid-18th century. A prehistoric hillfort with skeletal graves is located in the Oboře forest.
For travellers interested in culture, these sites offer a contrast across time: the hillfort and graves are prehistoric, while the statue dates from the mid-18th century. St. Anne’s Chapel adds to these two sites as a local landmark in the village square. Together, the three points represent different historical periods rather than a single era.
At Tvrz Svárov, a ditch and rampart are still visible on the eastern side of the site. As these are traces in the terrain, check their condition on site.
