Accommodation in Roštění
Roštění offers several specific points of interest to help you plan a stay: St. Florian’s Church, the village’s most important landmark; traditional events; and cycle paths and a horse-riding route through the village. If you are interested in culture and local history, the church’s architectural history and furnishings are central; for a more active trip, the cycle-path connections and horse-riding route offer different options.
St. Florian’s Church and local history
Roštění’s most important landmark is the Roman Catholic Church of St. Florian. It was consecrated in 1933 and is a Functionalist building with a semicircular apse. The church can therefore be understood both through its religious dedication and its architectural form.
Inside is a hand-painted coffered ceiling with 60 colorful panels. A coffered ceiling is divided into individual sections; at St. Florian’s, these panels are colorful and hand-painted. At the altar, a reliquary contains the relics of St. Urban and Jan Sarkander. The furnishings thus include both a striking ceiling feature and a reliquary holding the relics of specifically named saints.
The settlement’s history also reaches far back: Roštění is one of the old settlements and was mentioned as early as 1141 in a document issued by Jindřich Zdík, Bishop of Olomouc. This documentary reference and the church’s consecration in 1933 provide two specific dates from different periods of the village’s history.
Hody and local events
The traditional Hody celebrations take place in May on the feast day of St. Florian. At the Hodové slavnosti on May 3, 2026, a procession accompanied by the Sebraňáci brass band went from the fire station to the local church dedicated to St. Florian. This date and itinerary refer to the 2026 edition; future programs may differ.
After the 2026 Hodové slavnosti, a festive lunch and social gathering were held at the local Roštěnka pub. This information describes that edition and does not necessarily apply to later events. Stavění is another traditional event in Roštění. A 2024 municipal newsletter described the fruit brandy tasting at the fire station as a traditional annual event.
Cycling, horse-riding route and surroundings
Roštění has good access to cycle paths. A separate option is the 75-kilometer horse-riding route “Po formanských stezkách křížem krážem Moštěnkou a Hříběcími horami” by MAS Partnerství Moštěnka, which passes through Roštění. It runs through a total of 25 municipalities. If you want to assess a named route by its overall length, this horse-riding route gives you a specific point of reference; access to cycle paths is a separate option for cycling trips.
The surrounding area also offers other places to visit, distinct from activities in the village. Kostelecký les, near Roštění, is a popular destination for mushroom pickers. In neighboring Rymice, there is a windmill worth visiting. You can choose between local history, cycle paths, a longer horse-riding route and places in the surrounding area, depending on what matters to you during your stay.
The village also has a multi-purpose sports field with artificial turf, offering opportunities for sporting activities. The sports field and access to cycle paths complement Roštění’s historical and event-related points of interest.
