In Kyselovice, enduring cultural landmarks sit alongside a variety of events. Churches, crosses and statues of saints can be understood in terms of their dates and locations. Competitions and festivals range in theme from nature challenges to running and ball sports, as well as culinary offerings. The individual years help distinguish recurring traditions from specific editions of events.

Church and Musical Tradition

The Church of sv. Andělů Strážných was built between 1904 and 1906 in the Neo-Gothic style. Its unusual orientation runs from north to south. The 37-metre-high tower is located in the entrance area. This makes it possible to consider architectural style, orientation and height as distinct features of the building. There is also a marble cross from 1906 by the church.

Music is also part of the church’s cultural connections: the choir of Občanská beseda Kyselovice performs in the gallery at Christmas, during church feasts and on Corpus Christi. These occasions are spread across various religious feast days throughout the year.

Crosses and Statues of Saints in the Village

Of the four crosses in Kyselovice, the oldest is a Baroque cross dating from 1769. Another cross, from 1894, stands outside the village on the road towards Chropyně. The cemetery cross is made of Carrara marble and probably dates from around 1900. The three examples differ in their locations, materials and dates.

Religious artworks include a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the second quarter of the 18th century. It stands opposite the former school, in the middle of the village green. The Baroque statue of Saint Vendelín dates from 1769 and is located at a crossroads of state highways. Statues of different saints can therefore also be found at clearly identified locations in the village.

Nature Challenges and Sports Events

Medvědí stezkou is a traditional nature competition for children. The route follows field tracks and forest paths and passes through densely wooded terrain; conditions may vary from one edition to another. Practical tasks include knot-tying, map navigation and building fire pits. The mix of tasks may also change between editions. The natural surroundings and practical exercises shape the character of this competition.

Other events focus on different sports. The mixed doubles tennis tournament in Kyselovice has been an established tradition since 2005. Both tennis courts were used for the 2025 edition. The traditional Sportovní odpoledne took place at the sports ground in 2025; its main event was a bränball tournament for mixed teams.

On 26 April 2025, Sbor dobrovolných hasičů Kyselovice held the 20th edition of the “O Zlatou proudnici Hané” competition. It included a relay for teams of two. The 2026 Kyselovská tretra featured not only short-distance races, but also an endurance run and throwing competitions with grenades and tennis balls. These examples show different types of competition, from relays and mixed-team games to running and throwing events.

Culinary Event

At Vepřové hody 2025, traditional butchery products were sold, soup was served and meals were provided. There was also a tasting of butchery specialities. This event therefore differs in focus from the sports competitions: food and sampling specialities took centre stage.
