If you are considering Březnice as a destination for a hotel stay, its landscape, protected nature and historic sites offer different points of reference for planning your trip. Bus connections also play a role when planning your journey.

Valley, Hills and Nature Conservation

Březnice lies in the valley of the Březnice Stream below the western peaks of the Vizovice Highlands. Meadows and mixed forests characterize much of the municipality; there is almost no flat land in the hilly terrain. The Březnice Stream rises in Březnice and has two officially recognized sources.

The European protected area “Březnice u Zlína,” part of the Natura 2000 network, lies nearby. It protects the snail species “vrkoč útlý.” The area includes a meadow spring on the right bank of an unnamed right-hand tributary of the Březnice Stream. Thus, the landscape within the municipality and a specific protected habitat nearby are distinct natural features.

Church and Historic Sites

The parish Church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle is a protected monument with a Late Gothic core. It is considered one of the oldest churches in Moravia; the first records of it date from 1437. The year refers to the first records, while the Late Gothic core provides an architectural point of reference.

Other sites also reflect the history and cultural heritage of the municipality. A monument protection zone has been designated for house No. 21, including its shed and barn. The area of the former mill pond at the former mill site “Březnický horní (Řihoškův) mlýn” has been landscaped as a park.

At Kříby, in the cadastral area of Březnice, the memorial pear tree “Hrušeň u Slováčků” was officially designated a memorial tree on January 29, 2016, and the memorial service tree “Oskeruše u Janečků” on July 18, 2022. A resistance memorial was also erected there in 1955, commemorating the tragedy of the residents of Březnice.

Nature Trails and Activities

The outdoor educational trail runs through the municipality and features ten questions whose answers form a riddle at the end. If you enjoy following an activity as you go, the questions can give your walk some structure. Nearby, a forest educational trail leads to a bunker used by the anti-fascist resistance in the municipal forest within the cadastral area of Bohuslavice u Zlína. A project completed in 2025 made the bunker accessible.

The sports and cultural complex in the Filip district has a multi-purpose court with a synthetic surface. The court is intended for tennis, volleyball, basketball and small-sided football; the complex also includes a children’s playground. Alongside the nature trails, there are therefore named options for sports and leisure activities.

Getting There by Bus

Březnice has good bus connections, including at weekends. The municipality lies on routes from Zlín to Uherské Hradiště, Uherský Brod and Luhačovice, as well as on long-distance routes to Slovakia. There is also a dedicated Zlín–Březnice route operated by ČSAD Vsetín. Check the current timetable before setting off so you can plan your connection for your travel day.
