Sazovice combines culture, sports and routes to suit a range of interests. The local history museum and St. Wenceslas Church offer tangible connections to the town’s history and architecture, while sports facilities, a pilgrimage route and a cycling tour round out the options. When planning, it is worth distinguishing between fixed features, such as the museum exhibits, and changing conditions, such as the weather or seasonal opening arrangements.

Culture and Local History

The Sazovice local history museum opened on 28 September 2010 at House No. 21. It displays furniture and household items characteristic of domestic life from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th century. The collection thus offers a glimpse into everyday life over several decades. You can arrange a visit through the Sazovice municipal office; confirm your appointment before travelling.

St. Wenceslas Church was consecrated on 13 May 2017. Its cylindrical shape brings to mind a roll of paper with sheets peeling away. At the same time, it is dedicated to St. Wenceslas, the patron saint of the municipality. The specific consecration date and dedication are two distinct points of reference: one places the church in the town’s recent history, while the other connects it to the local religious tradition.

The folk custom Starý hanácký právo is also still observed in Sazovice. Its traditional form includes a festive procession with rychtáři; ribbons represent the right. A programme for this custom was scheduled for 6 and 7 June 2026. This date refers to a specific past programme date, not to a recurring events calendar.

Sports and Leisure

The multi-purpose oval is used for sports year-round. In winter, an ice rink for recreational skating may be available, depending on the weather. Whether skating can be included in your plans therefore depends on conditions. The swimming pool measures 25 Ă— 12 metres and is 1.1 to 1.5 metres deep. As seasonal operating details may change, check the latest information before visiting the pool.

The badminton hall has one badminton court measuring 13.4 Ă— 6.10 metres. The hall can also be used for group training and has a marked floorball pitch. If you are planning a different sport, you can rent a clay tennis court. Its operation is weather-dependent. The facilities therefore differ not only by sport, but also in whether weather or a prior arrangement affects your plans.

Routes and Getting There

The pilgrimage route from Sazovice to Zlín follows unpaved paths, and conditions may vary. Take this terrain into account when planning. The “3 days of cycling in Otrokovice and its surroundings” cycling tour passes St. Wenceslas Church and is described as an easy route. As route details may change, check the route description before setting off. The two routes offer different points of reference: the unpaved surface is a practical planning factor on the pilgrimage route, while the church stop and stated difficulty are relevant to the cycling tour.

For bus travel, route 154 serves the Sazovice, Jednota stop. Via Mysločovice, it runs to both Zlín and Holešov. As timetables are time-dependent, check the connection for your travel date before departure.
