Zádveřice-Raková: Church, Landscape and Cycling Routes
Accommodation in Zádveřice-Raková
Zádveřice-Raková brings together historical themes and routes through the landscape. In Zádveřice, the Protestant church and an exhibition about emigration take centre stage; in Raková, old wooden barns and a viewpoint are part of the rural village landscape. There is also Cycling Route 471 and an educational trail to mineral springs. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, these different highlights can help you plan your trip around your own interests.
Church and emigration history
The Protestant church in Zádveřice took its present form between 1860 and 1869, after the previous stone church was destroyed by fire. Its history of bells extends beyond the construction: three bells still in use are housed in the tower, and panels in the entrance area tell the story of their eventful past. Two bells confiscated in 1917 were saved in a unique way and are still used today as memorial bells.
Another historical theme is explored in the permanent exhibition at the community centre, or vicarage, of the Protestant congregation. It covers emigration from Zádveřice and the surrounding area to America in the 19th and 20th centuries. Visits can be arranged in advance with the congregation or parish office. If the exhibition matches your travel interests, arrange your visit before you go.
Rural homestead No. 124 is also part of the local cultural history: it is a registered immovable cultural monument and is listed in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic under number 23021/7-2155. This registration provides a specific point of reference for anyone interested in the village’s historic buildings.
Cycling route and trail to the mineral springs
Cycling Route 471 passes through Zádveřice on the route connecting Otrokovice, Zlín and Vizovice. Its total length is approximately 30 kilometres. When planning, it is therefore worth distinguishing it from the shorter walking trail: the two routes differ both in length and in how you explore the area.
The signed “Chodníček za sirnými studánkami” (Trail to the Sulphur Springs) is about two kilometres long and is a point-to-point route, not a loop. It leads to five mineral springs along the Horský potok stream. Two access points and two stations structure the trail. The first access point is at the Zádveřice, paseky bus stop. From there, the trail leads to the U Staré Hájenky spring and continues to Sirkovica, about one kilometre away. Check the local signs before setting out to follow the route.
Landscape and village scenery of Raková
The cadastral area of Zádveřice-Raková lies in the Vizovické vrchy Nature Park. In the broader regional landscape, the uplands of the nature park are characterised by continuous forests. At Raková, the U křížku viewpoint looks out over the settlement, its surroundings and the main ridge of the Vizovické vrchy opposite. Here, views of the village meet the wider landscape.
Numerous old wooden barns that have been preserved are part of Raková’s rural village landscape. The condition of individual buildings may vary. There is also an old orchard below the lower edge of the village. If you plan to visit it, check its condition on site. Together with the views and the walking and cycling routes, these offer various ways to include the landscape in your travel plans.
