Discover Mysločovice: Medieval Traces and Cycling Routes
Accommodation in Mysločovice
Mysločovice combines medieval traces and mill history with cycling opportunities and a hilly landscape used predominantly for agriculture. If you are planning a stay, you will find a range of points of interest: from the preserved core of a medieval fortress to a singletrack trail and local customs. You can choose your hotel based on the topics that interest you most.
Medieval Traces and Mill History
An archaeological mound was discovered in the center of the town on the grounds of Farm No. 9 and identified as the core of a medieval fortress with an earthen rampart. In places, the preserved core rises up to 5 m above the surrounding terrain. It measures 23 m in length and 13 m in width. The height measurement refers to parts of the core relative to the surrounding terrain; it therefore does not describe a uniform height for the entire structure.
Farm No. 9 also features an architectural detail: an oval Gothic vault boss is set into the brick wall of the barn. Its inner face bears a stylized Gothic tracery motif. Thus, this site brings together archaeological traces of the fortress and a specific architectural element with a Gothic motif.
Palkův mlýn offers another historical perspective. The mill is mentioned around 1409, when it was owned by Jiřík z Kunštátu and his sister Žofka. Some of the mill’s original equipment has been preserved. The reference from around 1409 records the ownership context at the time; the preserved equipment provides another aspect of the mill’s history.
Cycling and Landscape
Cyklopark Mysločovice is a small, fun singletrack trail that even young children can manage, while also appealing to experienced mountain bikers. The route winds through the trees and includes climbs and technical descents. Some sections cross wooden bridges over channels and depressions. The trail offering therefore combines a route explicitly suitable even for young children with more challenging trail features.
Marked cycling route No. 5034 from Fryšták to Kelč runs through the cadastral area of Mysločovice. Another connection is the unmarked cycling route between Mysločovice and Sazovice, which opened in autumn 2011. It is about 1 km long and was also intended for pedestrians. The routes therefore differ, among other things, in whether they are marked; the connection to Sazovice is also specified in terms of length and pedestrian use.
The landscape comprises lowland terrain in the Svodnice catchment area and predominantly agricultural, hilly land. At 285 m above sea level, Háj Hill is the highest point in the Mysločovice area. Both lowland and hilly terrain are therefore among the town’s described landscape features.
Local Customs
The Shrovetide custom “vodění medvěda” includes an annual tradition in Mysločovice: the SDH maintains the custom every year. “Staré hanácké právo,” on the other hand, takes place every ten years, with participants wearing Haná folk costumes. The customs therefore differ both in name and frequency: one is maintained annually, while the other is held once every ten years.
The dates listed for “Staré hanácké právo” include 1928, 1949, 1965, 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007, and most recently 2017. Together with the Shrovetide custom maintained annually, these dates show that local traditions follow different recurring rhythms.
