Proboštov offers several specific reasons to stay: the “Brittánka” recreation loop, a green-marked hiking trail, the forest park and the Proboštovský rybník pond. There is also a disc golf course and the traditional Antonínská pouť pilgrimage festival. If you are looking for a hotel in Proboštov, your planned focus can help you decide: outdoor activities, nature by the water or an event date each give your stay a different character.

Trails and Getting There

The “Brittánka” recreation loop is suitable for walkers, recreational runners, cyclists and inline skaters. The loop includes a viewpoint with a panorama of the Bohemian Central Highlands. The green-marked hiking trail has a different focus: it runs through Proboštov from the railway station, via the forest park and along the dam of the Proboštovský rybník pond. The municipality maintains and uses it year-round. Brittánka is all about the different ways of getting around and the viewpoint; the green trail is marked by the railway station, forest park and pond dam.

Proboštov railway station is on the Děčín–Klášterec nad Ohří line; all passenger trains stop there. Check the current timetable for your specific journey. This lets you plan the rail connection together with the green-marked trail that starts at the station.

Forest Park and Pond Landscape

Proboštov Forest Park has three play and exercise areas with outdoor fitness equipment, as well as new play features for the youngest visitors. The Naučná a herní stezka, an educational and play trail, teaches visitors about the fauna and flora, as well as the history and present-day life of the forest park and the Proboštovský rybník pond. Alongside the park’s exercise facilities, it offers nature themes and local history. Individual play features may change. The forest park reopened to the public in April 2019; check the current access conditions before visiting.

The Proboštovský rybník pond has a water surface of about five hectares, and its dam is 228 metres long. In autumn 2021, after many years, the pond was drained, desilted and revitalised. A report from June 2026 describes bulrushes and large clumps of bright yellow yellow flag irises along the water, as well as flocks of ducks and a pair of swans with cygnets. The pond’s dimensions, the work carried out there and the described lakeside vegetation offer different ways to plan a nature-focused stay.
