If you are looking for a hotel in Ohníč, the interests that bring you here may determine what you focus on: cultural monuments, mill history, cycling or a possible event date each offer different possibilities. The topics below help you distinguish between them and plan accordingly. For an interest in cultural history, building history and historical use are important; for a cycling tour, the length and elevation gain of the Barbora Loop are specific figures. If you are travelling by train, include the timetable in your preparations. Only plan around creative activities and events if current dates have been confirmed.

Cultural Monuments in Křemýž

Křemýž has two distinct cultural and historical highlights. The Church of St. Peter and Paul is a Baroque church and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Figurative Renaissance tombstones from the 16th century are set into its exterior walls. The building thus brings together Baroque church architecture and tombstones from an earlier period. This combination is of interest for understanding its cultural history: the church itself is Baroque, while the tombstones date from the Renaissance.

Křemýž Chateau adds an older fortress and a later-built chateau to the story of the area’s architectural history. It is located in the village of the same name in the Teplice District and was built at the foot of Ladenburk between 1693 and 1695, after the older fortress had been demolished. The chateau has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1958. Its building history can therefore be placed in context without treating the fortress and the chateau as the same building.

Mill History in Dolánky and Ohníč

The Dolánky watermill dates from the first quarter of the 18th century. It is no longer operational, is a private building and is not open to the public. The Dolánky Chapel is attached to the mill complex; it was built in memory of the tragic death of a child. Below the mill are the ruins of the former March Mill, also known as Nový mlýn. The chapel, private mill and mill ruins are distinct parts of Dolánky’s history.

The Ohníč Mill has a different use: flour is still actively milled there. The mill is fully electric and no longer powered by water. The comparison shows two different conditions and power sources: a watermill in Dolánky that is no longer operational and a mill in Ohníč where flour is milled using electricity.
