Hrob at the foot of the Ore Mountains

Hrob lies at the foot of the Ore Mountains. The town offers a tour of its preserved original layout, as well as excursions into the mountains and relaxation by bodies of water. Lake Otakar lies below Hrob. This means that both local history and landscape-related interests can be considered when planning a trip.

City Tour and Churches

The city tour covers historical, architectural, cultural and technical monuments. The preserved original town layout adds the structure of the town to the view of individual buildings. For travelers interested in architecture and local history, this combination offers several points of interest rather than focusing on a single building.

The Evangelical Church of the Resurrection (Vzkříšení) is one of the religious buildings. It is an Art Nouveau building in the Old Nuremberg style and a state-protected monument. It was consecrated and opened to the public on April 1, 1902. Its stylistic designation, protected status and historical date provide different points of reference for understanding the church building.

The stone Catholic Church of St. Barbara was completed in 1602. An original late Gothic portal is located on the south side of the nave. The completion year and the portal describe two different aspects of the building: its completion and a specific architectural feature. The nave is the lengthwise main section of a church building.

An earlier chapter in the history of Protestantism is reflected in the foundations of the first Protestant church in Bohemia. They were rediscovered and excavated in 1913 and were almost 300 years old at the time. Compared with Vzkříšení, consecrated in 1902, the foundations represent a much earlier church building and a different historical period.

Industrial History and Landscape

The railway bridge in Mlýny offers a connection to transport history. It is part of the historic Most–Moldava railway line and is designated a national technical monument. Alongside the churches, this provides an opportunity to explore a technical structure: through its connection to the railway line and through its designated monument status.

The mountains and bodies of water offer a different focus from the town layout and architectural history. Hrob offers excursions into the mountains and relaxation by bodies of water. Lake Otakar lies below Hrob. Your plans can therefore accommodate different interests: exploring historical and architectural topics, as well as excursions and relaxation connected with the mountains and water.

If churches, the town layout and architectural history are important to your trip, the city tour provides a specific thematic framework. If you are more interested in the available excursions into the mountains or relaxation by bodies of water, these options offer a different focus for your stay.
