Valley, slopes and the Svratka

If you are considering Sentice as a destination for a stay, you will encounter two sides of the place: its landscape setting and the tangible evidence of its history. Sentice lies in the Boskovická brázda, in a valley that runs from northeast to southwest. The wooded slopes around the village are part of the Brno Massif uplands. Sentice offers beautiful views of the Svratka River.

The Boskovická brázda describes Sentice’s location; its inclusion in the Brno Massif uplands refers to the wooded slopes. Together with the view of the Svratka, the valley, the hillsides and the river views can be understood as distinct aspects of the surrounding area.

Chapel and monuments

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the center of Sentice. It was founded as a Roman Catholic church in 1878. Its dedication and year of foundation offer two concrete points of reference for the village’s history: the dedication identifies the saint, while 1878 dates its founding as a church.

The statue of Saint Florian is a freestanding sandstone sculpture, about 3.5 meters high, and is protected as a monument. The year 1766 is inscribed on the pedestal beneath the inscription; this was noted during a revision in 1971. The years have different roles: 1766 is inscribed on the pedestal, while 1971 dates the revision in which the note was recorded.

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is surrounded by an ornamental wrought-iron fence about one meter high. In contrast to the freestanding sandstone sculpture of Saint Florian, the focus here is on the enclosure; Florian, in turn, can be described by its material and approximate height.

At the Krojované a Babské hody, held from May 15 to 17, 2026, a procession of folk-costume groups went from the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk to the Sokolovna. For this procession, the chapel was the starting point and the Sokolovna the destination. The date places the procession within this May 2026 program.

Circular trail and local brewing culture

The Fit stezka na Horce offers a different focus. The circular trail is about 0.5 kilometers long and includes nine exercise stations; it is located near the forest playground on Horka. Its length and number of stations offer two concrete points of reference for the activity on offer: the extent of the loop and the number of exercises. This sets the circular trail apart from Sentice’s landscape and cultural-history themes.

Sentické medové pivo Kvasar is brewed using the traditional bottom-fermentation method. During maturation, genuine bee honey is added to the 15° and 13° varieties using a cold process. The brewing method and addition of honey are distinct aspects of production: the honey is added during maturation and is specified for the 15° and 13° varieties.

PIVO KVASAR s.r.o. sells its full range at producer prices at Sentice 219. It is open Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; opening hours may change. If you plan to shop during your stay, check the hours in advance.
