Cvrčovice is defined by the Church of St. James, Baroque monuments, and the Jihlava.

The building history of the Church of St. James

The Church of St. James dates from around 1690 and is designated a cultural monument. A tower was added in 1828. In the 19th century, a Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre was built on the south side of the chancel; an oratory was erected above this chapel in 1885. The sequence thus spans the church’s construction period through to an addition in the late 19th century.

Baroque statues and protected buildings

A Baroque statue of St. Urban dating from 1750 stands in front of the cemetery gate. Cvrčovice is also home to a Baroque statue of St. John of Nepomuk dating from 1734. The dates establish a chronological sequence: the statue of St. John of Nepomuk is older than the statue of St. Urban, although both date from later than the church, which was built around 1690.

The château and farm complex of Cvrčovice is designated an immovable cultural monument. Its components include a gate, a farm building, and an administrative building. The so-called Petersova vila dates from the second half of the 18th century and is registered as a château under registration number 1186. Today it houses the Střední odborné učiliště Cvrčovice vocational school centre.

The Jihlava and Niva Jihlavy Nature Park

The Jihlava flows through the municipal area of Cvrčovice; a weir is located at river kilometre 18.4. A Bailey bridge dating from 1946 crosses the Jihlava.

The Niva Jihlavy Nature Park lies within the area of Cvrčovice. Its landscape is characterised by the freely meandering Jihlava floodplain, fragments of floodplain forest, extensive riverside vegetation, and two systems of oxbows and former river lakes. In the Brno-venkov District, this is the only surviving area of its kind; in the South Moravian Region, it is one of three longer preserved stretches of lowland rivers.
