Kostice brings together cultural history, riverside landscapes and recurring events with specific points of interest: chapels, a museum in a traditional folk house, a cycling route along the Morava River and gatherings at Kostický rybník. There is also Bahenní párty, a three-day music and motorcycle event. The different themes offer distinct ideas for planning your trip—from architectural history to seasonal events.

Chapels and local history

The Chapel of Saint Theresa was built in 1857 and consecrated in 1861. It stands at a crossroads on the routes to Břeclav, Lanžhot and Tvrdonice. In 2021, it received a new ornamental design that decorates all four sides. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is nearby.

At the former Chapel of the Holy Cross, by contrast, the focus is on its relocation: it was demolished in 1930 and rebuilt a little farther away. Balíkových kaplička stands on the boundary between Kostice and Lanžhot. The named chapels thus illustrate different aspects of local history—from construction and consecration dates to a later rebuilding.

Events and seasonal occasions

Bahenní párty, a traditional three-day music and motorcycle event, has been held in Kostice since 1995. Dates, programme and venue may change. If you would like to plan your trip around this event, check the details for your chosen dates.

The museum in the traditional folk house hopes to take part in the “Víkend památkových domků” project, which traditionally takes place in early June. If you are planning your trip specifically around this project, check in advance whether the planned participation will go ahead that year.

The Morava River floodplain and cycling

The eastern part of the cadastral area of Kostice lies in the floodplain of the Morava River. The 31 km route from Břeclav to Hodonín, which passes through Kostice, offers a specific reason to go cycling. The route runs through flat terrain alongside the Morava River. Its length, terrain and course along the river provide useful information for deciding how to fit the route into your travel plans.

Fishing and fish dishes

Kostický rybník is a fishing water managed by the Kostice local branch of the Moravian Anglers’ Union. Twice a year, in spring and autumn, it hosts gatherings for anglers and non-anglers alike. These events are therefore not just for people who fish themselves. If you would like to fish at the pond, check the current rules in advance, as specific fishing regulations may change.

During the summer holidays, locals and visitors from elsewhere can enjoy fried and smoked fish at Rybářský výlet. Exact dates and the food on offer may change, so check the latest details before your trip. Together with the gatherings at Kostický rybník, this seasonal food event offers another time-specific reason to visit Kostice.
