Accommodation in Domašov
In Domašov, marked routes meet cultural and historic buildings. When planning a hotel stay, you can consider these separately: the routes differ in their courses and themes, while churches and other historic buildings offer their own perspective on the town’s history. First consider whether your trip will focus more on a particular route or on architectural history.
Marked routes and their different focuses
The red-marked “K pohádce máje” hiking route runs from the Bílý potok valley through Domašov, Říčany u Brna, and Ostrovačice to the Brno Reservoir. In Domašov, it runs between the Bílý potok valley and the Svratka valley. This makes the town part of a longer route through several named places to a clearly identified destination.
The blue-marked route begins in Domašov and runs through the Chroustovské Valley, Zastávka u Brna, Babice, and Zbýšov to Oslavany. It passes through the northern part of the Rosicko-Oslavany coalfield and focuses on the history of mining and energy supply. Compared with the red hiking route, its sequence of places and historical focus offer a different way to orient your travel plans.
The Železná stezka runs from Domašov over a reconstructed historic bridge in the direction of Šmelcovna. This nearby place lies northeast of Domašov, in the Bílý potok valley. For this route, the bridge and the direction toward the named destination provide distinct reference points.
Churches and architectural history
Domašov’s parish church has had its present-day Baroque appearance since 1765 and is listed as a protected monument. The present parish house dates from 1782. The dates therefore refer to different buildings: 1765 to the church’s present-day appearance, and 1782 to the parish house.
The Fortna – domek ponocného is located within the grounds of the Church of St. Lawrence. Another building is the administrative and residential building of the Rajhrad Benedictines’ manor estate, known in Domašov as Zámeček. It dates from 1720. Its administrative and residential function adds another facet to the town’s history alongside its religious buildings.
A pilgrimage to St. Lawrence is held in Domašov on August 10. If you wish to plan your trip around it, check the dates and program for the relevant year.
Landscape and getting there
Domašov is surrounded by picturesque forests. The Domašovický potok flows through the town; a small reservoir lies southeast of Domašov along the course of this stream. The watercourse is therefore a landscape feature both in the town and at the reservoir to the southeast.
