Hosín offers three clearly distinct points of interest for planning your trip: the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, Hosín Airport and Hosínské Orty. Architectural history, aviation, and the landscape and industrial heritage of the Orty appeal to different interests. These features can help you assess Hosín according to the theme you want to shape your stay.

Church of Saints Peter and Paul

The Church of Saints Peter and Paul was built in the pseudo-Romanesque style and was completed and consecrated in September 1900. On its eastern side, the original Romanesque church is incorporated as a side chapel. The term “pseudo-Romanesque” describes the church building, while the original Romanesque church remains preserved as a distinct part. This brings two different Romanesque references together in one building. The church preserves valuable frescoes dating from around 1340 in the former Romanesque sacristy. The square church tower rises 36 metres from the corner of the crossing. The side chapel, frescoes and tower each add a distinct architectural feature to the building’s history.

Flight options at Hosín Airport

At Hosín Airport, Aeroklub České Budějovice offers powered flying and gliding. Skydiving and pilot training are also available, including flying ultralight aircraft. The offerings therefore cover different forms of aviation, from flying to training.

Short flights of 20 minutes, longer flights of 40 to 60 minutes, and individual flights along a route of your choice are offered from the airport. The time ranges make the difference between shorter and longer flights clear; a custom route is another option. Availability may need to be arranged in advance. As flight offerings can change, check the current options before your trip.

Hosínské Orty: Nature and industrial history

Hosínské Orty stretch along the boundary of the municipalities of Hosín, Borek and Hrdějovice, near České Budějovice. This unique tunnel labyrinth was formed by former kaolin mining and combines industrial history with an underground landscape. At the same time, the Orty are one of the most important wintering sites in South Bohemia for bats and horseshoe bats. This ecological significance adds a natural perspective to the history of former mining. One access condition is important when planning your visit: for safety reasons, the underground system is officially inaccessible; many entrances are closed.

U Borovice viewpoint

Between Hosín and Hrdějovice, the U Borovice viewpoint offers a view across the entire city of České Budějovice. The location and the view can be clearly distinguished: U Borovice is between Hosín and Hrdějovice, while the view extends across České Budějovice. Cycling route 1054 runs along the road beside the viewpoint. If you include the route in your plans, check the signage and conditions on site.
