Petříkov lies between forests and ponds, and the Stropnice flows through the village. This landscape and the area’s natural and cultural features offer different starting points for planning a trip. You can consider whether you are most interested in peat bog landscapes, the history of the settlements or a specific activity such as the cycling route. This also lets you tailor your search for a hotel for a trip to Petříkov to your own interests.

Nature and Routes Around Petříkov

The Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area extends into the Jiříkovo Údolí district of Petříkov. The Červené blato Nature Reserve, which has a nature trail, is also located there. The area’s natural forest communities mainly include bog pine and peat-bog pine forests. There are also communities of open raised bogs and populations of rare and endangered plant species, including bog pine (Pinus rotundata) and marsh Labrador tea (Ledum palustre). Forests, open raised bog areas and the plants mentioned here represent different aspects of local nature that you can consider separately when planning your trip.

Červené blato can only be accessed via its nature trail, which was established in 1983. If you plan to visit the nature reserve, bear this access restriction in mind and check the latest information about the trail in advance. The “Cestou dobrých vod na Borovansku” cycling route also passes through Petříkov. Check the route details before setting out so you can plan using the current route.

Settlement History and Culture

Těšínov is a settlement in the municipality of Petříkov. It has old farmsteads and cottages, most of them situated along one side of a road that was once an important route from Třeboň to Nové Hrady. These traditional building types give the settlement a tangible connection to rural architectural history. One example is farmstead No. 22: this rural property in Těšínov is registered as a protected cultural monument.

Jiříkovo Údolí also has a historical connection to glassmaking. In the 1920s and 1930s, the old glassworks there was open to the public and a popular destination for school trips as well as adult tourists from across Bohemia and abroad. This former role as a visitor attraction is part of Petříkov’s history and differs in period from today’s nature attractions around Červené blato.

Petříkov is also home to the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk. Mass is held there every Thursday at 6 p.m. Check the time again before making plans. The chapel and the former glassworks represent different cultural connections: one is associated with a regularly scheduled service, while the other is linked to the visitor tradition of the 1920s and 1930s.

Getting There and Planning Your Trip

Petříkov has a České dráhy railway stop. Check the train timetable separately when planning your journey and confirm whether a service stops there at the time you plan to travel. The stop is therefore a reference point for planning, while the specific connection depends on your travel date. The cycling route requires different preparation: it passes through the village, but you should check its details before setting off. At Červené blato, access is explicitly limited to the nature trail. These differences can help you work out what to check for your stay, rather than treating the listed destinations and transport options as equivalent offerings.
