Hostavice brings together natural surroundings, a park, and local history to create a multifaceted picture of the destination. The V Pískovně Nature Reserve is known for its wetlands and birdlife, while Pilská Park was created for recreation and active leisure. A small château, a bell tower, and the area’s early history offer another perspective on the place.

Nature and Landscape

The V Pískovně Nature Reserve lies on the border between Hostavice and Dolní Počernice. It is characterized by high biodiversity, particularly rarer aquatic and wetland plants. It is also an important ornithological area where several waterbird species regularly breed. Botanical diversity and regularly breeding waterbirds are two specific features of this protected area. If you are choosing a focus, V Pískovně and Pilská Park cater to different interests: the nature reserve is home to rarer aquatic and wetland plants as well as regularly breeding waterbirds, while the park was created for recreation and active leisure. Botanical and ornithological interests are thus contrasted with a focus on leisure.

Hostavice lies within Klánovice–Čihadla Nature Park. The Hostavický Brook divides the area into two parts and flows into the Rokytka at the Čihadla dry reservoir.

An English oak stands in Hostavice village square, with a trunk circumference of 340 centimeters and a height of 19 meters.

Pilská Park and Leisure

Pilská Park opened in 2015 and was created as an area for recreation and active leisure. Its revitalization included a complete network of paths, a multipurpose sports court, and a children’s playground. The documented design therefore includes paths as well as facilities for sports and play. If you are planning a visit to Pilská Park, check the current condition of its paths and facilities in advance. This step is especially helpful if you have a particular leisure activity in mind, allowing you to tailor your plans to the conditions during your visit.

History and Architectural Traces

Archaeological finds suggest that Hostavice was probably founded as an archbishop’s estate in the first half of the 13th century. The oldest written mention of Hostavice dates from 1432, after its likely foundation in the first half of the 13th century.

The small château known as Hostavický zámeček was built in the old village center on the site of the former farmstead No. 9. In 1934, Tomáš Baťa’s company bought the Kolman farmstead, including all its farm buildings, the château, the park, and the associated land. The Hostavický zámeček was also among these properties.

The Hostavice bell tower also has its own historical trace: a container found during its repair is said to suggest that it probably dates from 1730.
