The district combines nature and geology with preserved evidence of its former village character. At Hořejší rybník, path information and a historical nature survey take center stage; local history includes the original village square, the Church of St. George and a small chateau. These different points of interest give you concrete ways to plan your trip around your interests.

Nature, Geology and Paths by the Water

Pražský zlom is a protected natural monument in the cadastral area of Hloubětín. It is also the only outcrop where the dislocation zone of one of the most significant faults in the Bohemian Massif is directly visible and can be studied at the Earth’s surface. For travelers interested in geology, this feature is a special point of interest. In geology, the term “fault” refers to a fracture zone; at Pražský zlom, the associated dislocation zone can be seen directly at the surface.

A survey at Hořejší rybník recorded a total of 107 plant species and 165 butterfly species in 2006. Both figures belong to this historical survey and do not describe current species populations. In terms of nature, these findings differ from Pražský zlom: here, the focus is on recorded plant and butterfly species, while there it is on a geological structure. This helps distinguish two different aspects of nature in Hloubětín.

Cycle route A43 runs around Hořejší rybník. In addition, a path suitable for pedestrians, marked with blue hiking blazes, runs around the pond. When planning your trip, you can distinguish between these routes by mode of travel: A43 is designated as a cycle route, while the blue-marked path is suitable for pedestrians.

Repairs to a path along the Rokytka were reported in September 2024. It runs from the U třech mostů picnic area (Hloubětín at Hořejší rybník) to a point level with Polifkův rybník and is intended for pedestrians and cyclists. In contrast, the two route descriptions at Hořejší rybník refer to paths around the pond; the description of the Rokytka path specifies a starting point and a destination level with Polifkův rybník.

Traces of the Former Village

Hloubětín’s original village square, with its oldest buildings, has been preserved: the Knights of the Cross courtyard and an old inn. The square and the two named buildings provide a concrete architectural link to the village’s former character. For travelers interested in historic townscapes, they offer a distinct way to explore Hloubětín’s history.

The Church of St. George is surrounded by a former cemetery, now laid out like a park. Here, past use and present-day design meet: the cemetery is part of the area’s history, while the grounds around the church are landscaped like a park.

The small chateau in Hloubětín has a design reminiscent of Tudor architecture. Those interested in architectural styles will find another architectural feature here, in addition to the preserved village square and historic buildings.
